Pauline "Polly" Ann Fawcus Nash passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center at the age of 84.
Polly is survived by her husband of 65 years, John Nash, Jr.; daughter, Polly Anne Nash and friend, Karen Gordon; son, John Nash, III and wife, Teri; daughter, Naomi Drummond and husband, Charles; daughter Martha Bartlett and husband, Marty; grandchildren, John Nash IV and wife, Laura; Amy Dahlke and husband, Rob; Andy Nash and wife, Rebecca; Amanda Nash; Mara Stephens; David Stephens; Bobby Stephens and wife, Tabatha; Mariah Bartlett; Matthew Bartlett; great-grandchildren, Emily and Tilden Nash; and Jacob and Jade Dahlke. Polly was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Andrew Nash; her parents, Kenneth and Martha Fawcus; twin brothers, Freddy and Kenneth Fawcus; and sister, Janice Walrod.
Polly was born in Alice, Texas on January 5, 1926. She graduated from high school as salutatorian in 1942. She attended Texas A&I in Kingsville and worked for Humble Oil Company Laboratory in Ingleside, TX during World War II. She married John, a naval aviator flight instructor on October 26, 1944. Following the war, the couple moved to California until 1960 when the family moved to St. Louis. While in St. Louis, Polly was the creator and served as editor of the "Spotlight on Youth", a twice weekly page in the St. Louis Globe Democrat newspaper-the largest morning paper in the St. Louis area-where she was an award-winning photojournalist.
The Nash family has been residents of Seguin for more than 35 years. Upon moving to Seguin, Polly served as the coordinator of the Guadalupe Valley Hospital Volunteers (The Pink Ladies), served as editor of the bi-weekly Scroll publication for over 20 years, served as past president of the UMW participating in various roles of that organization. In 1976, Polly and John and John, III opened Greenery Station Restaurant on the 123 Bypass where Polly served as "head cook"-many Seguinites remember her wonderful homemade biscuits, muffins, and spinach soufflé. Polly loved gardening and cooking, but mostly, she and John loved to travel worldwide. The family is positive that she has boarded the best cruise line yet, taking in heaven's loveliest sights.
A visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Family will receive guests from 5:00-7:00. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10:00 at the First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center Volunteer program, the Shriners' Hospital, or the Seguin Sunrise Lions Club.

Hello Polly, we have so many good things in mind when we think to you and John. When you welcome me in 78 and loved me as a member of your family. I had a great time sharing you, drinking orange juice and getting my driver license. Then we managed to meet as many time as it was possible, on my way to Canada, on your way first to Belgium ( twice) and to Germany ( where I joined you with Pierre-Olivier), or home, in Texas, with Nadia, Katia, Pierre-Olivier and Letizia. You welcome so dearly Nadia and her father some time later. All that and more stays in our mind and in our heart and now we hope, we know you are in peace. We love you, Polly, and we do love you also John. De tout notre coeur, Etienne,Nadia, Pierre-Olivier, Katia and Letizia.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Nash Family during this difficult time. I have so many memories of Mrs. Nash, swimming in their pool, hearing her laugh and during the younger years her shuttling Martha and I to many different places. I remember my family and I eating at Greenery Station and we always knew we were getting the best meal of the day!! Memories are the best way to keep those we have lost close to our hearts.

My deepest sympathy to the family. What a wonderful video tribute and celebration of her life. Her "light" definitely shines on through you. I had the opportunity to work with Polly A. at ECC and we have been friends for years. Only time I had the honor of meeting Mrs. Nash was at Polly A.'s ECC retirement party. What a beautiful spirit. You are in my thoughts and prayers my dear friend, Polly A. and your family.

Dear Martha and family,

My heart goes out to you during this time. I have such fond memories of the many sleep-overs at your home in Glen Cove and the genuine hospitality always shown by your parents. I still have the book they gave me as a graduation gift in 1986. The hand-written note by Mrs. Nash is proof of the love they gave to all who walked into their home and into the lives of their children.

I pray you find comfort during this time.

Polly was a wonderful matriarch of a truly amazing, strong, and diverse family and they made me feel as though I was a part of that. Since my Dad passed away just a year prior to my senior year in high school, it was a genuine honor to be chosen as the 1st recipient of the Kenneth Nash Music Scholarship. I can remember them presenting it to me with tears of joy from all 3 of us as though it were yesterday (no small feat for this 50 year old brain!).

John and Polly took a sincere interest in my life. Working at the Greenery Station as a hostess when they 1st opened... well, it wasn't like working FOR them, it was like working WITH them. That's just how they were. However, I don't think any sadness came when they decided we didn't have to wear the long old west style dresses any more!!

My heart goes out to all of the extended Nash family. I hope that the wonderful memories and the tributes posted on here will lift you up as you go through this difficult time. Although, the world will be a lesser place for not having her living on it, Heaven is enriched by her presence there. I'm sure it was a glorious entrance when she meet our Heavenly Father! My prayers are with you all. ~Suzane Westphal Daniels

My condolences to the Nash family for their loss. Naomi, after being a co-worker and friend for 15 years I think I can see where you get such vibrance for life. It looks like your mother had a wonderful life. It reminds me of the scriptures about Abraham, Isaac and Job that died "old and satisfied". She obviously left a wonderful heritage to a beautiful family. No one is ever ready to lose a loved one but may the fond and precious memories slowly heal your broken hearts. With Deepest Sympathy,

One of our fondest memories is of visiting the Nash home to get information for our new Valentine Queen, Naomi. (You want the scoop, as Mr Nash said and looked at Polly to tell all) My husband, Chuck, and I heard a lifetime of stories and looked at wonderful family pictures for hours. We laughed so hard our sides hurt by the time we left, and we really did not want to leave. We could have stayed all night and I think Polly would have fixed us breakfast in the morning. You got that warm feeling being around them. As her pictures indicate, she was always smiling and we will truly miss that smile (and her white bathrobe at the Hawaiin brunch). She was a delightful lady and we feel so blessed to have known her.

We love the Nash family and our prayers are with you.

Love,
Chuck & Debbie Richter
