Pauline ("Paulette") Giordano Obituary

Pauline ("Paulette") Giordano February 22, 1925 - May 1, 2024

Paulette grew up outside Paris in the Roaring '20s and became a Lieutenant in the French army during WWII. She met American G.I. Oscar Giordano in occupied Vienna in 1945 and came to the US in 1947, speaking almost no English, to marry Oscar. The couple had two daughters and two sons. Throughout Oscar's Army career, the Giordanos lived in Germany, Cambodia, Japan, and various regions of the US. Paulette was a wonderful self-taught cook who adapted and expanded her French roots to new cuisines wherever the family was living. She passed along her culinary expertise and love of adventure to her children and grandsons. Paulette's favorite activities were dancing, cooking, playing bridge, and following the stock market. In retirement, Paulette and Oscar enjoyed their condominium in Cocoa Beach, Florida, until Oscar's death in 1999. Paulette lived independently in her condominium until age 95, when she relocated to an assisted living community. She is survived by her four children: Robert Giordano (Allegra); Patricia Giordano (Alistair Johnstone); Denise Giordano (James Powers); and Gregory Giordano, as well as grandsons David Johnstone (Kirsten Swanson), and Marc Powers (fiancée Meredith), all of whom will remember and greatly miss her high spirits and joie de vivre.

We were so sad to hear the news of your loss. Although we never met Paulette we feel as though we have because of the amazing inherent qualities that you carry inside and share with us. We know that the kindness you hold in your heart must be part and parcel of her influence. May you find peace and solace during this difficult time.
Much love, Arianny and Charles

Thinking of Patty, Alistair, David and the Giordano family -- Paulette lived an amazing life.

I was lucky to meet Paulette a few times when she visited Connecticut. My memory of Paulette is that she was a sparkler: pretty clothes and jewelry, San Pellegrino instead of still water, champagne whenever possible. She wore heels in her 90s for a more elegant silhouette ("I'm short!") and was a laughing, dancing charmer. Reposez en paix, Madame.
