Mrs. Peggy Stewart Barger

Peggy Stewart Barger, 84, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2022 at Carolina Caring Hospice House in Newton, North Carolina with her loving family by her side. Peggy was born in Newton, North Carolina on May 23, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Jerrel Lavaughn Stewart and Nannie Lee Hoke Stewart. Peggy was a graduate of Newton-Conover High School and Clevenger Business College. She retired as Branch Manager with Bank of America after 30 years of service. She loved to shop and loved spending time with her family. Peggy is a member of the First Baptist Church, Gastonia. Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, John Franklin Barger; loving daughter, Cindy Walker and her husband "Dub"; one brother, Ronald Lavaughn Stewart and his wife, Linda; one sister, Barbara Jean Stewart Kirby; two grandchildren and their spouses, C.J. Walker and Catherine, Beth Stanley and Ashley Stanley; two great grandchildren, Liam Walker and Sammie Walker. Funeral services will be private and at a later date.
