SILER CITY — Peggy Almond Fullington died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Chatham Hospital with her daughters by her side.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, July 7, at the First United Methodist Church, 1101 West Raleigh Street, Siler City, N.C. Burial will follow at the Chatham Memorial Park.
She was born in Asheboro, N.C., to the late David D. and Lois Presnell Almond. She graduated from Women"s College (now UNC-G) with a degree in art and taught in Chatham County and Randolph County schools.
Peggy was a patron of the arts and genuine supporter of the art community. She served on the Art for Chatham Hospital committee, the Siler City Planning Board and was a Community Arts Partner. She was influential in the emerging NC Arts Incubator and was excited about its impact on the revitalization of downtown Siler City. She participated as an Incubator gallery artist and recently exhibited at the Art in the Garden Show.
Peggy was a member of the Chatham Hospital Board of Directors, the NC Museum of History Associates, the Siler City Garden Club and was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church.
Peggy will be deeply missed by many, many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Fred Fullington and later by her dear companion, John Brown.
Surviving to celebrate the joy Peggy brought them are her daughters, Debby Freeman and her husband, Richard and their sons, Fred and Will of Norfolk, Virginia, Leigh Tate and her husband, Bob and their children, Kelsey and Stephen of Austin, Texas; her sister, Sarah Moore and husband, Don of Danville, Virginia and their daughters, Donnah Woody and Suzie Wright. She also leaves behind her kind, loving and devoted friend, Ben Jones.

Peggy and Fred back together again!! What a happy thought. God bless them both. She was remarkable, elegant, charming, devoted to a loving family as were they to her--as well as a host of friends and the entire Siler City community which she served with such enthusiasm and talent. She will never be forgotton and always loved.

Debby and Leigh, I read the passing of your mother Peggy on line and am so very sorry. She was a lovely, gracious lady and raised two lovely daughters. I know you have so many wonderful memories and these memories will help carry you through this diffiicult time .
