Peggy Jean Hamilton was born in Dyer County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Cecil "Dutch" Butler and Edna Jennings Cagle.

Peggy retired after 40 plus years from Brown Shoe Company.  She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.  In her spare time Peggy loved watching the Hallmark Channel.  

She departed this life on Friday, January 19, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 92 years and 6 days.

Peggy is survived by her children, Donna Thurman of Savannah, Tennessee,  Jeanie Majors (Gordon) of Savannah, Tennessee, and Sandra Butler (Tony) of Waynesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Pamela Gray(Pete), Cosmin Majors (Amber), Tiffany Jones (Brad), David Butler (Karissa), Andria Smith (Mark), and Jennifer Smith (Paul); great grandchildren, Carly Fowler (Chris), Kasen Majors, Shelton Thurman (Elizabeth), Alexis Hale (Jacob), Gracie Thurman, Jake Smith, Landon Butler, Mallorie Butler, Illeigh Butler, Ruby Butler, Alissa Butler, Jayden Butler, Jordan Butler, Justin Butler, Claire Smith, and Olivia Smith; great-great grandchildren, Colt Fowler and Blaikely Butler; sisters, Charlotte Butler and Joan Kaminski; and brother, Cecil Gary "Buddy" Butler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her previous husbands, T. J. Burns, Adley Linville, and W. C. Hamilton; brother, Jerry Butler; sisters, Anna Sue Johnson and Dorothy Ladd; and grandson, Kirk Lee Wayne Thurman.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at AHC Savannah for taking wonderful care of their mother and for loving her.
