He was the husband of Joanne L. (Nangle) Blew; they celebrated 48 years of marriage. Born in Fleetwood, he was the son of the late Earl and Loretta (Essig) Blew.
Leon was a 1965 graduate of Oley High School. He was employed at Met-Ed as a chief lineman for over 40 years, retiring in 2006, and also was owner of 4 Seasons Sporting Goods in Oley.
He was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. His memberships included Moment of Peace Adventures (MOPA), National Rifle Association (NRA), Daniel Boone Rod and Gun Club, Oley Fish and Game, Boyertown Rod and Gun Club and Pike Township Sportsman's Association.
Leon loved hunting, fishing, baseball and gardening and especially spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Joanne are two children: Tammy L. (Blew) Hughes, wife of John Hughes II, Lower Alsace Twp. and Gregory L. Blew, husband of Anita (Spayd) Blew, Sinking Spring. There are 5 grandchildren: Ashley Hughes, Kristen Hughes, Justin Blew, Ryan Blew, and Michael Hughes.
Other survivors include sister, Linda Johnson, Mohnton; brother, Donald Blew, Oley; sister, Maryann Stauffer, Exeter Twp.; sister, Sharon Hess- O'Fallon, MO, and brother, Harold Blew, Exeter Twp. He was predeceased in death by sister, Shirley Capretti.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Leon's memory to Moment of Peace Adventures (MOPA) P.O. Box 775, Oley, PA 19547.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Exeter Township on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Patrick H. Lamb celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday at Bean Funeral Homes, 6 Fairlane Rd., Exeter Twp. from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday 8:45-9:45 a.m. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
