Peggy L. Mechling

Peggy Lou Mechling, 80, of East Franklin Township, died Thursday, July 22, 2010, in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 20, 1930, in East Franklin Township, a daughter of the late Charles Blakney and Jennie (Smith) Blakney. She was a homemaker and a member of Salem Baptist Church in Walk Chalk. She won the Leader Times cooking contest many times. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. Survivors include her son, Dennis (Marcia) Mechling, of Worthington; daughter, Diane (Paul) Shaul, of Ford City; four grandchildren, Heather Bowser, Shawn Mechling, Nicholas Shaul and Tessa Shaul; four great-grandchildren; twin sister, Patty (William) Meyer, of Rural Valley; and brothers, William (Rose) Blakney and Ronald (Betty) Blakney, both of East Franklin Township. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Mechling. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 119 Bear St., Worthington, and 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
