Penny Golla Obituary
She was born in Sacramento on Nov. 16, 1933, and raised in the hills near Placerville. She attended Jefferson High School in Daly City before starting a family and a customer service career. If you enjoyed a Zim's burger in SF in the 50s, looked for work at the Employee Development Department in Pittsburg in the 70s, or visited the deli counters at Safeway or Lunardi's in Walnut Creek in the 90s, you benefitted from Penny's hard work and million-dollar smile.
She enjoyed cooking, golf, and gardening, and could coax a fragrant bloom out of the most gnarled rose bush.
Survivors include her children, Tina Wynn of Benicia, Vince Golla of San Ramon, and Kelly Golla of Sacramento; her brother, Don Gardner of Eagle Point, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her second husband and father of her children, Roger Golla, preceded her in death in 2002.
At her request, no service will be held.

I first met Penny when she lived at Vintage Brook Senior apartments. She had a little garden outside my apartment with a lemon tree which is still there today but isn't giving fruit probably because it misses Penny's loving care. She always wore cute lil' hats. We shared many a conversation and glasses of wine over the years.
