I have known Perry for 70+ years - GHS, First Baptist Church, GHS Alumni - what a truly wonderful citizen. He was a man of conviction, faith and service to mankind whether family, neighbor, city, county or state. I send the old sailor's wish for smooth sailing, fair winds and a following sea for eternity. Bon voyage.

Perry was truly a Class Act - I knew and liked Perry growing up, but it was when I had the privilege of working for him that I really got to know him and his character. Professionalism and stewardship were important to Perry and he led by example. Perry will be missed in this community, not only by family and friends, but also by so many who benefited from his countless volunteer hours. Thank you Perry!!

To the McGriff family. There was never a time that Perry wasn't kind, thoughtful, and a true gentleman. He has a way of always making you feel special, and taken care of. He took care of the Sheffield family for over 40 years. The world has gotten a bit darker without his bright light of kindness and caring. Always gave back to a community that he truly loved. God be with you until you meet again.

I met Perry when I was 17, back in 1969. My friend Betty Jones worked with him in an old gas station on University Avenue. I worked with a local attorney for many years so our paths continued to cross. He accomplished a great many things in his life, but the bottom line is, he was a really good man. God bless his family.

Condolences to Noel and the entire McGriff family who have had a long tradition of support for the University of Florida. We were teammates and friends since 1955. I really appreciated his Mother sending newspaper articles to my Mother in Corpus Christi, throughout my career at UF. Perry was of the highest character, leadership and service to others. He kept up with his teammates and was instrumental in keeping the Fabulous 50's reunion together. I'm sure he will have his camera with him to share and record all the good deeds he has inspired in others. Rest in peace, my friend.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Perry McGriff, Jr. I first met Perry at North Marion High School when he was one of the speakers at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes school assembly. Then again when Perry spoke at our Reddick Presbyterian Church. Many wonderful memories watching him as a great Gator, baseball and football as well as all he served in Gainesville, Alachua County and all around. He was a friend indeed. May God's comfort his Family and friends during this time. Cherish your memories. Perry will be missed. Ps. 116:15 ❤❤

Perry coached my Chamberlain High School football team in Tampa, FL under head coach, John Adcock. He assisted with the Chiefs being ranked number one in the Florida polls during my 1961 senior season.
He moved to Gainesville, FL about the time I played football for the Gators (1962-1965) and was involved with the football and baseball teams, but I don't think he was a full-time coach. At some point, he became a State Farm agent and sold me my first insurance policy before I left U of F. I had no doubt Perry was doing the best thing for me, and I respected Perry as a friend and advisor, not just as a salesman. Perry was among the finest Christian men I have ever known and had a dramatic influence on my life since the first time I met him. I celebrate his life on earth and look forward to seeing him again when I go to be with Christ, our Lord.
Perry was a marvelous athlete, inspirational, moral, and a great example to all who knew him. He was quiet, but when he spoke, he spoke with authority and knew what he was talking about.
