Peter Graeme Allison, 66, of
Boxborough, MA, passed away on October 11, 2023 with loving family by his side. He leaves behind his soulmate and wife Susan of 23 years, his mother Barbara Allison and his mother-in-law Joan Gallahue and her partner David Mahoney. He is also survived by his siblings, Christopher and his wife Suzana, David and his partner Mark, Amy and her husband Mark, brother-in-law Robert and his wife Karen, brother-in-law Michael and his wife Mary, sister-in-law Kristen and her husband James and sister-in-law Joan and her husband Everett as well as many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family. Peter was predeceased by his father Malcolm and father-in-law Robert Gallahue.
Born in
Annapolis, Maryland on November 6, 1956, the family later moved to Valley Forge, PA when Peter was 10 and then to Harvard, MA where he graduated from Bromfield High School. Peter attended Northeastern University for 3 years studying Mechanical Engineering and then transferred to Central New England College and graduated cum laude with a degree in Computer Science. Peter worked for many years as a Test and Build Engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation and as a Technical Support Engineer in Cloud Computing at Akamai. He was also co-creator of Thoreau Foods and Alison's Nutrition Food Labeling business where he greatly assisted Susan with his computer expertise and writing skills.
Peter enjoyed many hobbies and interests. He was a Certified Organic Landscaper and Baker. He loved cooking and eating food and the outdoors and shared both with family and friends. His travels took him hiking and rock climbing to Colorado, Yosemite, the White Mountains, and to Peak 13332 where he and Susan fell in love, to Chamonix, France to ice climb, and to the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands and the Isles of Shoals to scuba dive. He also enjoyed long bike rides throughout New England and open water swims at Walden Pond in
Concord, MA,
Naples, FL and Seabrook Beach, NH. His family and friends describe him as positive, patient, genuine, easygoing, passionate, and the consummate foodie. While he often entered a room quietly, his dry sense of humor soon emerged. All who knew Peter will always admire his courage.
A memorial service will be held at St Elizabeth's of Hungary Church, 1 Lowell Street, Seabrook Beach, NH on November 6 with visiting hours at 10:30 am and a funeral mass at 11:30 am followed by a luncheon. As a way of helping heal the grief Susan and family asks that you write down stories of how Peter was part of your life. They may be sent via email to:
