PETER BENCIVENGA

BENCIVENGA, PETER A. Peter A. Bencivenga, 90, of Milford, and beloved husband of Isabelle (Sally) Hjerpe Bencivenga, passed away on Monday, November 3. Son of the late Ciro and Josephine Duccilli Bencivenga, he was born on August 27, 1924 in Waterbury, CT. He served with pride and honor in the US Navy during WWII. Peter began his employment as an electrician and advanced to Superintendent of Maintenance at Raybestos in Stratford. During that time, he was also Dean of Students at Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Prior to his retirement, Peter was the K – 12 Math Supervisor for the Milford Board of Education. He received an Associates degree from BEI and Bachelor’s degree from the University of Bridgeport, both in electrical engineering, a Masters in Secondary Education and a 6th year Education Administration also from the University of Bridgeport. He and his wife were world travelers, with Italy being one of their favorite places to visit. He enjoyed studying languages and spoke Italian, Japanese and Hebrew. In addition to his wife Sally, Peter is survived by his sons; Peter A. Bencivenga Jr. and Jerry C. Bencivenga and his wife June; his daughter Joanne Kraynak and her husband Michael; and his loving grandchildren. He is predeceased by his grandson Peter M. Bencivenga. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St, Milford, CT. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 2610 Nichols Ave, Stratford, CT 06614. Friends and family may call on Monday, November 10th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cody-White Funeral Home.
