Like Rod Arriaga, I did not know Peter well when we were classmates at SMCHS. But I came to him as an inveterate fund raiser and friend of the school. Every thank you letter from the school to me had a handwritten note from Pete, and we´ll all miss his generosity and commitment. I hope he and Emmett Mullen are enjoying each other in heaven!

I am so sorry to hear about Peter's passing. His mom and my mom were lifelong friends and our families spent many of our early years vacationing together in Twain Harte. Since my sister's (Susan) passing last year, I have lost touch with the family, especially Peter's sister Linda and his uncle, George Armstrong. I would love to hear from Linda.

Peter was always a champion for students and went out of his way to support programs that helped students navigate high school. I'll miss his dedication and charm. Blessings to the family and rest in peace.

I first met Peter thirty years ago when I was hired as a teacher at Saint Mary's College High School. He was then working in Advancement and we soon became friends. I will always remember Peter's support and kindness to me as a new teacher and his commitment to Lasallian education.
After his retirement, Peter volunteered as a hospital Chaplin, comforting patients and their families. I last saw him this past January on the cardiac rehab floor of Summit Hospital, where my husband Bob was recovering from open heart surgery. That day, Peter was so caring and compassionate and gave me Communion as well. Peter gave from his heart to others for as long as he could. I send my compassion and deepest sympathy to all of Peter's family, including Jackson, who I taught as a freshman. Carla Harkness

Rest in Peace, mio fratello. Peter was my older brother that I never had in my immediate family. Our relationship really took off when he enthusiastically (and persistently) sponsored my becoming a cursillista back in 2006, as he had done for a handful of others. Some time later, we met religiously every week in our 4th Day group and our St. Theresa Mens Faith Sharing until his moving to Mercy CC this year. Whether we talked cuisine or at times shared a meal, dishes, food delicacies, or wine, it was always with an Italian element that we shared. Finally, Peter had the uncanny talent to be able to convince a prospective donor to St. Mary's CHS in such a way that a person could understand the need and how he/she could share in that cause. For all the above and much, much more, I shall be ever grateful.

My grandfather was one of my biggest role models. It was and still is an honor to be the first grandchild and one of the first one to call him "nonno" he always made me laugh and some of my fondest memories are going to get a caspers hot dog, or going to the cemetery every holiday to visit the relatives. Now he is going to be one of the people I make sure to visit. I will always cherish the 21 years I had to know and love you deeply. I love you Nonno.
Your granddaughter,

I have so many wonderful memories of my time spent with Pete and all of the friends we shared in common. I remember when Mike Harnett and Pete ran for Student Body President and Vice-President. They didn't win but they certainly entertained the guys at school with all of the crazy sayings they painted all over Jack Harnett's old pick-up truck. High school was rarely dull and we seemed to always take advantage of our age.

My memory of Peter has everything to do with Peter "the football player".As I remember it he was an offensive lineman. An as a running back I depended on his ability to block for me as I ran the ball. He was a good blocker and player. And remained a good friend over the years.?

As a Class of '62 graduate, I had at best vague memories of Peter as a younger underclassman during my student years at Peralta Park. But as an adult alumnus and '62 Class President spearheading class reunions every five years, I got to know and appreciate him very well indeed once he returned to campus as Advancement Director and Alumni Guru. When we began early prep work for our Golden Diploma celebration (2012), the subject of a class gift to the school arose. It was Peter who planted the seed with his suggestion of an endowed scholarship fund in the name of the class, apparently the first ever in alumni history, an example soon followed by the succeeding Class of '63, who honored Gene Pisenti. Our fund has grown steadily, providing tuition assistance to needy students for the past dozen years or so. It's an accomplishment in which we take considerable pride, but one for whose origin we are indebted to Peter's agency, inspired by his loyalty and generosity to our alma mater.
Working with Peter automatically installed you as yet another one of his friends, moved by his modesty, sincerity, and generosity. My condolences to his family, and to the entire Saint Mary's family which he served so well.
