So sad to hear of Pete's passing. I am an old friend from high school and Cleveland.... we had many fun times together in those years. Still remember his tales of growing up in rural North Carolina (I believe it was - failing memory?) Pete was always at the top of our class; but, at the same time, "down to earth". Last spoke with Pete a couple of years ago to tell him of a mutual friend's passing. Our condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of your fathers passing.I had the privilege of working with him in the OR at Baptist, and later visiting with him at the Garden Center as he selected flowers for his home. My prayers are with you.

I am grateful for the life of Dr. Boylan. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.

This is my Facebook tribute to Dr. Boylan:

I just learned that my neighbor and friend Dr. Peter Boylan transitioned last night. Thank you God that I went to see him at Research Hospital last week and he knew I was there. He said, "Crystal" before the medicine kicked in. I stayed a while, held his hand and read some of the Catholic prayers his family had there. He had a beautiful rosary on his chest. I thanked his daughter, Wendy, for being so inclusive of me and Elijah. I am also glad Elijah would dump his trash and get his groceries out of his car and bring them into his apartment. Dr. Boylan would give Elijah dollars and sodas as payment. He would say, "Now, Elijah this is our secret because I know your mom does not want you to take money." I never said anything. It was okay. I loved his stories about his Air Force life and his life as an orthopedic surgeon. He was duly impressed that I had been to the Armament Museum in Florida near the naval base (Ed took me there when I visited him for our dissertation work). We talked over a few cocktails a couple of times. We at Kenilworth apartments are going to miss Dr. Boylan. I will be attending his services on Wednesday morning at Cure of Ars Catholic church. God bless you, Dr. Boylan. — with Elijah Evans.

Even though such a short time, our lives are richer because of Dr. Boylan's presence at Kenilworth apartments.

Sincerely,
Crystal J. Davis and Elijah Z. Evans

I am so sorry to read of Dr. Boylan's death. He operated on my son, Mark Lowry, after the Perthes disease left the femur head in his hip, and it regained life--only as flattened and he would have been unable to walk. Since the doctor had learned and practiced that surgery elsewhwere, he knew the process, and he was the first surgeon to perform such in the KC area. We still have photograps (slides) of that special surgery. Mark had follow-up appointments and it turned out to be very successful. Although Mark died of cancer in 2006, he had many successful years with a normal functioning hip, thanks to a great physician--Dr. Boylan! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time. Jo Lowry (Kansas City)

Peter will be sadly missed in the Kansas City barbecue community. His attention to details, respect for others, great sense of humor, and passion for excellence in barbecue was exemplary. Condolences to Peter's family & all who knew and loved him.

I had the great honor of being one of Dr. Boylan's nurses, when we worked at the old Baptist Spine Center. He was a very devoted and caring doctor, who listened to his patient's and gave them the best care that they could receive. He was a gentle, calming doctor, with a bright, shining smile. JB

He will be greatly missed. He was an amazing man and one
of my heroes. He saved Charles' life in 1994. I will always be grateful that Peter was in my life. Now he lives on in my heart and my memories forever.
