Peter Anthony Bruno

Peter Anthony Bruno, 72, of Northlake, died peacefully on March 31, 2023.  Peter was born in Chicago on June 17, 1950 to Orlando “Lonnie” and Lucy (Fascilione) Bruno. 

A proud Veteran, Peter served in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1972 as a cryptographer, his brilliant mind put to work cracking codes during the Vietnam War.

Peter married Carla Joy (Nunez) in 1991 in Northlake.

Peter’s true passion was music. He was a virtuosic blues guitarist, playing alongside legends like Bo Diddley, The Rolling Stones, Gregg Allman and Jonathan Cain.  He left an enduring legacy on the Chicago music community.

A lovable curmudgeon, Peter will be remembered for his love for family, love of good Italian food & wine and his infectious belly laugh. The proudest uncle, Peter bragged to anyone who would listen about his niece and nephew. 

Preceding Peter in death are his wife, Carla; father, Orlando; mother, Lucy, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Peter is survived by his brother, Richard Bruno (Kathy McMahon); sister, Rosemary Bruno (Guy Tenuta); niece, Dana Merk (Dan); nephew, Matt Stephens (Deanna Quagliata), and his great-nephews, Rowan & Bodhi Merk, cousins and friends.  Peter will be so missed, but his family finds peace knowing he is reunited with his favorite musicians, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck and Duane Allman.

Private interment with military honors at Queen of Heaven cemetery.
