Peter Scott Duchon died unexpectedly March 23, 2009 in Oceanside, Calif. Peter was born December 2, 1963 in Austin, Texas to Claude and Helen Duchon. A memorial service was held March 28 in Encinitas, Calif., "to share our grief, honor Peter and comfort one another."Peter and his family moved to Norman in 1969. He graduated from Norman High School in 1982 and attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of New Mexico. While in Albuquerque he owned and operated a music store, developed and marketed a line of EnViRonmentallY friendly clothing called EVRYware, led a rock band, and wrote poetry. In 1992 he moved to Oceanside, Calif., where he continued his musical interests, writing over 200 songs, recording three albums, and performing in local venues. For many years he operated a corporate catering service.His interest in preservation of the environment led him into the solar energy business. In the early 2000s he became a self-educated installer and marketer of solar panels and equipment. His company is called ASAP (As Solar As Possible) Power. Peter' s home in Oceanside served as a model for residential solar energy installation to the extent that the electric meter rotates backwards, thus putting power back into the grid. Peter was highly respected in his profession, an individual who always spoke kindly of others, and an eternal optimist. He was considered a visionary with regard to the use of solar energy in promoting a sustainable planet.Peter and Jill Towns were married July 1, 1996 in Carlsbad, Calif. Peter is survived by his wife Jill, son Jakob, 11, step-daughter Sarah Balos, 16, of the home; parents Helen and Claude Duchon of Norman; sister Lisa Duchon, husband Dennis Andrulis and nephew Stephen Andrulis of Philadelphia; brother Andrew Duchon and wife Eiling Yee of Boston; mother- and father-in-law Judith and Marvin Towns, and Jill's brothers Marvin (Karen) Towns and Tom (Ann) Towns, all of Saginaw, Mich.; grandmother Annabelle Earnheart, Bellevue, Wash.; and aunts and uncles: Paul (JoAnne) Earnheart, Bellevue, Wash.; Rita (Bruce) Kilmer, Green Bay, Wis.; Donald (Mildred) Duchon, Manitowoc, Wis.; and Gerald (Maureen) Duchon, Verona, Wis.Contributions can be made to the Peter Duchon Memorial Fund, Republic Bank -- Trust, 401 West Main Street, Norman, OK 73069.Submitted by family
