What a great sendoff today for Father Peter Duggan!

You told us clearly "The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot extinguish the Light." We treasure the light of your faith in our lives, your encouraging -sometimes curmudgeonly, but always passionate heart for God. We are thankful for keeping us company along the way.

It was a blessing to celebrate liturgies as musician with Fr. Duggan for a time, at St. Catherine and at St. Peter. God bless his caring servant heart.

I so appreciated Father Peter's spirit and fierce independence, as well as his faith and his pastoral commitment to his flock, come hell or high water! Peter, you were a precious gift to our Church. We will miss your fire and your devotion.

To his family and to all at st. Peter's Church right now, you are all in my prayers.

I was in Fr. Peter's first RCIA class in 1980-81 at St. Thomas More, Lynnwood. We waited for him to return from Ireland and became Catholics at Pentecost. He married Jim and I in August 1981. We enjoyed his wit, wisdom and candor. Our sympathy to Fr. Oliver who was our pastor at St. Elizabeth Seton. We were twice blessed with the Duggans as spiritual leaders.

Father Peter Duggan was the priest of Saint Anthonys in Kent when I started attending the Catholic church in 1990. After a few months of attending church every week I found myself entering the RCIA program to become a member of the Catholic church. Father Duggan is the priest who confirmed me. Through him I have entered many ministries in the church and still visit the homebound. Through his encouragement to go through the Cabrini Ministry training program I am very grateful. I have grown through the people I serve in ministry because of the opportunities Father Duggan made available to me. I am forever grateful for having known him. My prayers go out to the family. Father Peter Duggan served the faithful well and reached out beyond the call of duty. He had the courage to ask challenging questions. May he enjoy the fulness of life with Christ and those whom he helped on the way to heaven.

I met Father Duggan when I was asked to join the Neighborhood House Board as a "recipient of services" in the early 60's. At the first meeting I attended, we "recipients" were not seated with the rest of the Board, until Father Duggan got up and with his wonderful Irish "fire" called attention to this discrimination. With much scraping of chairs, "room at the table" was made for us.
My husband and I also had the pleasure of Father Duggan's company when we took him with us to some event. His wit and wisdom were a delight. His memory will be a blessing to all who knew him.

Father Duggan was the Parish priest at Holy Family in White Center in the 1960s. He would come over and visit with the grade school students a lot. I have a very fond memory of him reciting "The Cremation of Sam McGee" to my 4th grade class.
