Peter Espino Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 26, 2024.
Peter Luke Espino, age 30, passed away suddenly on May 17, 2024, in his home town of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He loved going to hear bands in Denver, listening to music generally, and laughing with friends while hanging out alongside his 70 pound "puppy" Ki Ki. Pete was devoted to his older brother Gabriel who he lived with most of his life. His parents, Lee Espino and Kay Nash, adored their loving, generous boy.

Peter was a thinker, inquisitive, and used his technology skills locally working as a HVAC technician. Peter spent his early years at Fremont Elementary, Russell Middle School, and graduated from Doherty High School in 2011. He went on to earn an associates degree in HVAC from Pikes Peak College.

Peter often visited his parents wearing colorful hats and clothing and ate eggs in a nest for breakfast. Afterwards, he would take a nap on the couch while semi-watching "What We Do in the Shadows" or "American Dad."

Peter is survived by his parents, Lee Espino and Kay Nash, and his brother, Gabriel. The bereaved also include family in Wisconsin and Tucson, Arizona, and, of course, his friends and colleagues locally.

We love Peter so deeply and grieve his loss with broken hearts. Rest in peace (and laughter), dearest, darling boy. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Peter was the coolest person I have ever met. From the moment I met him, I was aware that there was no one that could match him. We met back in 2013 or so. I met him and his room mate at the time, and we clicked instantly, having a similar taste in music. From then on, I continued to develop my relationship with him, and learned more about him. His values matched my own, and we grew closer, often going to shows and spending time together with other friends.
As we grew into adults, his temperament and wisdom became things that I tried to emulate. Peter was enigmatic and almost mythical in my eyes. How could someone be so cool and detached?
All I know is that the torch he left bearing is still burning bright.
There are many that would call him kin, and we love him through and though.
Peter, you are missed and you are loved.
With all love and respect,
Tom & Jodi

I remember him walking into ATMS for his job interview and instantly making an impact. I never thought that he would make such an impact on my life as fast as he did. All I did was check him in and walk him back, he somehow find a way to bring a smile to my face with this tiny interaction. He had a very quirky sense when it came to his winter wear. I just loved his beanie he would wear to stay warm. It showed that he did not focus on the opinions of others and dared to march to the beat of his own drum. Peter you will be missed.

I've heard nothing but good things about Pete from my daughter Heather and my son Nicholas. I've never met him but he touched both of their lives and was a true friend and joy to be around for both of them. I'm saddened by his loss and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I met Peter during his high school years when fitting into the mold is what gets students through four challenging years. Well, Peter not only didn't want to fit the mold, he purposefully side-stepped it, which offered a whole new set of challenges. And rather than allowing these challenges to define him, he soldiered through to become the thoughtful and insightful young man who moved to the beat of his own drummer, embraced his unique perspective on life (and his wickedly unique sense of humor!), and loved his family deeply.

We will miss you, Peter. Your warmth, zest for life, and always positive outlook on life made you someone worth knowing. And am I ever glad I was gifted with knowing you.

I met Peter during the 9th grade and we very quickly became close friends. Even after I had moved to another state, we always kept in touch and I saw him any time I visited. He was a life long friend, and like a brother to me. He was a unique one of a kind person and the most inspiring humans I've ever known. I truly can't believe he's gone. I miss him very much. Rest in peace, Peter.
