December 11, 1956 - August 15, 2018Pete Goff of San Pedro passed away following chronic lung disease. Born on a US Navy base in Japan to Chief Petty Officer Peter Goff, Sr. and Kyoko Goff, Pete moved to Massachussets when he was two where he lived for 4 years before moving to San Pedro. After high school, following in his father's footsteps, Pete enlisted in the US Navy and served for 5 years on the air craft carrier USS Constellation. Most will remember Pete for his many proud years as a firefighter with LAFD. He was a long-time engineer with Station 20 and finished his career as Fire Captain at Station 85. A proud member of the LAFD Fire Hogs, Pete spent his retirement years touring the country on his Harley Davidson and sport fishing. More than anything, he loved his family. Pete is survived by his daughter Nicole and son-in-law Joey Buss; his son Brian and daughter-in-law Loren; his four sweet grandchildren, Benjamin and Oliver Buss, and Sophie and Cooper Goff; his sister Kiyomi Yoshii, brother Kevin, nephew Brett, and his mother KyokoPlease sign the guestbook at dailybreeze.com/obits.

So sad to hear of Pete's passing. We worked together at FS 20. I once heard a woman describe him as "devastatingly handsome" and I had to admit it was true. I remember him fondly as a gentle soul who was extremely bright, fun to converse with and just pleasant to be around. RIP my friend. Justin Newman

Prayers to the family for their loss. I am so sad to hear of his passing. I am very lucky to have known Pete. We met at the Village Pub many years ago and shared a few beers together. He loved his sports. I will always remember his smile. He will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts.

My sincere condolence to the Goff Family.
I was truly blessed to have this caring compassionate man as my next door neighbor.
I have know Pete for nearly 18 years and although he was a very private person, I enjoyed the many front porch conversations that he shared about the milestones of his children from graduations to weddings and grand kids. He also was so passionate about his road trips to Sturgis, South Dakota. Most recently, he took many drives to Laughlin and always had a silly smirk on his face when he would tell me about all the freebee's he was getting at the casino! I appreciated him so much after the passing of my husband, he watched out for me like a big brother. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Pete, We had some great moments in the wind. I will always remember and treasure your friendship. You were a special friend. The kind of friend I knew would always have my six. The kind who appreciated the fact I had his. A friend I could always count on when I needed one. Always there with a laugh and a smile ready to enjoy the next adventure.
