Peter Joe Neri "Pedro" Gutierrez

Pedro "Peter" Joe Neri Gutierrez, 59, passed away on July 20, 2024, near Mile 114 on the Seward Highway, Alaska. Born on October 5th, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he lived a life marked by his love for the outdoors and his family.

Pedro was a devoted enthusiast of fishing, hunting, birdwatching, and sightseeing, often accompanied by his beloved dogs, Midas and Sheba. He cherished time spent with friends and family, enjoying music and sharing stories. His love for his family was profound, especially for his grandchildren, whom he adored immensely. Pedro was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia Gutierrez whom he loved deeply, and granddaughter, Cataleya Ortiz.

Pedro is survived by his parents, Joe and Mary Gutierrez; his children, Peter Gutierrez Jr., Stephanie Gutierrez and her partner Henry Prespentt, and Brianna Ortiz and husband Isiah Ortiz. His grandchildren, Antonio, Andres, Isiah Jr., Natalia, and Leyla, will miss their grandfather's presence and guidance. He also leaves behind his sisters, Patricia Gutierrez, Pauline Marquez (Fernando), Pamela Gutierrez, and Priscilla Torres (Frank), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends and relatives. His primo hermano Nick Landlee and wife Nancy Landlee were honored to be with Pedro during his dream trip of seeing Alaska.

A dedicated member of the San Juan Nepomuceno Mission Church in Chilili, New Mexico, Pedro was deeply rooted in his faith and community. A mass to honor his life will be held at the same church on Monday, August 5th, 2024, at 10:30 am. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at the Chilili Cemetery, with a reception at the Chilili Rodeo Sala.

Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla, Alaska, is assisting the Gutierrez family during this difficult time. Pedro's legacy of love, adventure, and familial devotion will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
