With a sense of timeless tradition and solemn respect, we announce the passing of Peter Ivan Jeranko Jr., who completed his earthly journey on July 20, 2024, at the age of 80, in
Charles Town, WV. Born on the third of May in the year 1944, in the historic city of Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Peter Ivan Jeranko Sr. and Helen Jeranko, and brother to the late Mary Ann Casten.
Peter's life was a testament to the virtues of diligence and integrity, beginning with his education at Dundalk High School and culminating in his academic achievements at the University of Maryland, Baltimore Campus. His professional life was marked by a steadfast ascent to the esteemed position of Vice President at Lockheed Martin's Integrated Systems, where he served with distinction and honor.
A patriot through and through, Peter served his country with valor and dedication in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. His military service was a defining chapter in his life, instilling in him a sense of discipline and commitment that he carried forward in all his endeavors.
An ardent fan of America's cherished pastimes, Peter's love for baseball and football was unwavering, with a particular fondness for the Baltimore Orioles, the Baltimore Colts, and the Washington Redskins. His passion for horse racing also spoke to his appreciation for tradition and the spirit of competition.
Peter enjoyed spending time at casinos, playing slots, and engaging in horse racing, which were among his favorite hobbies. He valued the time spent with his sister Mary Ann and his nephew, Timothy. Summertime and Holidays, were special to him, as he enjoyed playing various sports with Timothy and his close friends. These activities including outings to Orioles games were treasured moments that created lasting memories. Peter also appreciated the time spent with family and friends in Bridgeport, WV.
Peter's life was one of unwed dedication, yet he was surrounded by the love of family. He is survived by his nephews, Timothy Casten, and his wife Cindy of Chester, VA, Mark Kurt and his wife Dawn of Springhill FL; great-nephews Timothy Casten Jr. and Matthew Casten; great-nieces Brandyn Smith, Katelyn Casten and Mallory Hutchinson of Holiday FL. His life was further enriched by his companion of 25 years, Sharon Marie Serio, their daughter Amber Le (and her husband Mike) of Culpeper, VA, and their grandchildren Derek and McKenna Le.
