REMEMBERING MY GRANDFATHER
My first memory of Peter was captured by a photograph, it was one of those "grand" Christmas morning celebrations at vintage. I remember the three generations of bath-robes, not the ordinary bath robe, but that terrycloth comfort that my dad, papa, and I modeled after all receiving the elegantly packaged gifts under the tree. Peter was the photogenic epitome of a grand father, endearingly referred to as papa by the kids. He was a patriarch, sitting at the end of the table commanding respect with his low, jovial humor. His look and overall demeanor made it hard for me to dismiss the idea that Santa Claus didn't exist, since, as a toddler I was convinced Papa was the real thing.
During these holiday visits, whether in Maui or at Vintage, papa would sit beneath a newspaper in the living room. God's wrath if anyone were to sit in HIS respected chair. He would sit with the television on, often as a beacon to have his family members sit down, relax and have a smooth, low-energy conversation. He was subtle, but his ears were always open. His passion was helping his family, and he did that as a game-master would play chess. That's what made him more than just the ideal image of a "grandfather" to me, but he taught what gentleman was. Someone with a coherent wit, who could take the unfavorable point of view without causing a ruckus or argument. But he got other people to consider his point of view by engaging them in thought, weather it be about Preston and Terrance's reaction to a new a brother, or Philip's choice of mate. He engaged me in conversations about American politics and sports in comparison to Canadian politics and sports, that permanently effected my personal interest in world business. He was a man that didn't have to say much, because the words he chose were powerful. He defined the image of a gentleman, as my papa, grandfather, as an intellectual businessman that could engage a wit to the point of accomplishment, without asking so much as an honorable mention. With grace and elegance Peter Kutney possessed something few can fathom.
Forever respect to the Immortal Memory of Peter Kutney.
With Love and Support,

Hello,
Although I never actually met Peter, my father, Cam McFeely, who passed away in April of 1998, mentioned Peter often and considered him a very dear friend. I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to your family.
Take care.

Please sign and even record a voice message for posterity and respect; so we can all share and add to the memories we have of this special gentleman. Photographs and family snapshots will be added to the Photo Album regularly. Perhaps you too can upload shots to the album so that we can all still share memories of those wonderful times with Peter. He and Irene hosted many of us in luxurious settings. You may want to share some of those moments in the life of this extraordinarily good man.

Dear Uncle Pete, I love and miss you! I have so many things to thank you for.....the major one being for introducing my family to Manzanillo which is still our favorite place to go over 30 years later. Irene and Peter Douglas: I am so sorry for your loss. My love to you both and your families. Patti
