Peter George Lahner, a resident of Incline Village, died on October 11, 2012. Peter passed at the age of 73 from cancer. Peter was born September 10, 1939 in Budapest, Hungary. At 17 he was a freedom fighter for his country and came to America in 1956. Peter lived in New Jersey and worked in New York City. Peter had much success in New York City, he was very mechanical and became the only man at the time to be able to repair printing machines. He then dreamed of moving to California, and moved his family in 1973 to Santa Monica. Peter owned a Porsche Audi business for many years. Peter moved his family and business to Simi Valley where he met his wife Brenda. Peter and Brenda moved to Incline Village in 1982 and have resided there until January 2012 when they moved to Cabo San Lucas. They had 6 beautiful months there and returned home in July when Peter's health declined. Family was very important to Peter, he was surrounded and loved by his family till the end of his life. He is survived by his three daughters Ellen, Rita (Bryan) and Maureen (Jerry), stepsons Shawn, Boyd (Jamie), grandchildren, Amanda (Chris), Natasha (Shad), Dylan, Rachel, Lynzy, Megan, Lauren, and great grandson Shane, brother Tony (Liana), nephew Anthony, niece Renata and her children, sister Helen (Joe), niece Jackie (John), nephew Jeffery (Cassandra) and their children. We would like to Thank everyone at St. Mary's Hospital, Reno Life Care Center and especially Dawn and Vicky from hospice. You treated our father with love, kindness and the dignity he deserved.
With death there comes a distance one you can not reach, there also comes a closeness one you can not teach.

Happy Birthday, Dad! Today would have been your 81st birthday. It's been eight years since you passed away. Not a day goes by without missing your smile, your presence, hearing your voice, and, most of all, your strength.
I wish we could talk one more time because, in my heart, I know you would have said I promise to protect all three of you from everything that has happened.
It's not any easier today than it was when you left. The void in my heart can never be filled.
