NORTH CHATHAM -

Peter A. Lehotskie (''Pete”), 83, formerly of North Eastham, died of congestive heart failure Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, in North Chatham.

After 16 joyful years together, Peter leaves his beloved longtime companion Muriel Randall, and her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jerry Orr.

Peter's final months were eased by the outstanding, loving assistance of private caregivers, as well as Broad Reach Hospice Care, and the staff of The Victorian House.

Pete was originally from Watertown, Conn., the son of the late Mary (Pedaney) Lehotskie.

He served in World War II as an Electrician's Mate Second Class, USNR, aboard the USS Corbesier DE 438.

After retiring from Kimberly-Clark, New Milford, Conn., he and his late wife Ann H. (Grudzinski) relocated to Cape Cod.

Pete was an avid fisherman with a love for the Cape. He had a passion for cars and a talent for fixing anything mechanical.

Pete's gentle and generous nature made him a wonderful friend to many.

He will be missed.

Pete is survived by his two sisters, Olga Buttrick of Watertown, Conn., and Eva Lehotskie of Thomaston, Conn.; as well as three nieces.

In accordance with Peter's wishes, a memorial service will be held at Saint Joan of Arc Church in Orleans, Oct. 13, 2007, at 10 a.m.

A reception will follow the service.

Interment service at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broad Reach Hospice Care through the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA, 02633

It was our pleasure to meet Peter through Muriel, Susan and Jerry a few years ago. We were visiting the Orr's from Texas. It was in late fall, beautiful weather and the Cape lovely as always. The six of us had a wonderful meal....great food, much laughter and pictures that hold the memory, atop our bookshelves.
Peter definately seemed a "character" with a dry sense of humor and a great appreciation of Rose! We are so pleased that they had their time together.
I know Peter appreciated all of the support, help & "family love" he received from Muriel, Susan & Jerry.
I must tell you, we really tried to get Peter down to the Gulf Coast of Texas! The Cape was where he wanted to be!
Blessings to all who loved and cared for Peter. He will remain in all of our hearts.

Peter was a merry old soul. He always thought of others first and what he could do to make them not just comfortable, but happy. It was never about him. Ever.
He was the kindest man I ever knew. We will surely miss him, that wry smile, his hugely generous heart.

Pete was the first person to welcome my mother to the Victorian just one year ago. He was a respectful and kind gentleman who reached out with a generous heart to help her adjust to the Victorian. Peter always had a kind word and my mother never heard him complain. His devotion to his very special friend was evident by the sparkle in his eyes and smile when he spoke of her. It was a pleasure to know him.
