Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 27, 2013.
Peter Ben Logalbo 84, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, went to be with his heavenly father on November 27, 2013.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois, September 10, 1929, The son of Joseph and Frances (Sottile) Logalbo who both preceeded him in death. Peter married Nada Jean Mary Conroy, who survivies, in Chicago, Illinois on February 5, 1949. "Jean" is the mother of his four children and currently lives in Niles, MI.
In 1952 Pete and Jean came to Niles, MI and together opened Petes Patio on Lake Street (now BJ Pub). They later opened a second restaurant on north Fifth Street in Niles and ran both places for five years. Pete and Jean worked side by side and this was a popular place for the best pizza and Italian beef sandwiches. Pete made pizzas in the window and Jean took care of waiting on the many customers. Pete touched many lives with his generosity and always had a warm welcome for his customers and friends. Pete continued to operate Petes Patio for 54 years before retiring to North Carolina.
Pete was an avid Bears, Notre Dame and Cubs fan

He received many lifetime achievement awards including Business Man of The Year. Pete was a member of Orchard Hills, Indian Lake, and Signal Point golf courses. Pete was a member of the Men's Equestrian Team at Laughin' Place Stables. Pete loved to throw a good party with family and friends and especially loved hosting his famous cookouts.

Pete wrote the book on running a business. He was consistent in serving an excellent product and even more important, made you feel welcome and important to him when greeting you. Niles was very fortunate he chose it to call home. May his soul rest in peace.

Pete, as my father-in-law will be truly missed. He was always the center and the rock of the Lobalbo family, of which I am part of. For the last twenty years he had become a second father and sports companion. We will miss you Pete. Save me a seat.

Pete is my father-in-law and as he used to always say, we were also friends. He was the best father-in-law a person could ask for and I have many special memories of our years together.
I will miss him and miss watching football games with him, especially the Bears and Notre Dame games.
Pete has now joined his father and mother in heaven (and I am sure they are talking about food).
We love you Pete
