What a wonderful way you had to pass the message on and infuse encouragement. God blessed us with your work and now receives you in His embrace.

I had great conversations with Pete in his Archives room in Corpus Christi and appreciated all the work he did to keep our history alive. His devotion and enthusiam started me on a trip to begin an Archive in my own area. I will miss him.

The Central Office of Shreveport, Louisiana, sends our sincere condolences to Pete's family. He will be sorely missed by all of us during Tri State Convention this year (October 29-31). Keeping one up on James M. is a real task-Pete did that a whole lot! Thanks for all you have done over the 25 years in the fellowship.

A ritual Pete and I shared was every year at the Corpus Christi Texas Coastal Bend Jamboree was on Thursday night, after Pete had unloaded his Archives and I my taping equipment, we would meet for dinner at the 'U&I Restaurant'. It was always a contest to see who was fast enough or clever enough to pick up the check: sometimes James won, sometimes Pete. Likewise in Shreveport at the Tri-State AA Convention, a meal and a 'fight' over the check. These are the kind of memories that fill the heart and are beyond price. What can I say, except that Pete was a good man indeed. A man who loved his family and loved his adopted family of Alcoholics Anonymous. A man of good humor and of great service. We are all better for his life, and his departure shall leave a void. I shall miss my friend. - James Murrell, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana 7/11/81
