Peter Michael and Susan Curley MAHER

Peter and Susan Maher passed away 1 day short of 1 year apart at their assisted living residence in Durham, NH. Peter was born in Philadelphia, PA to Durand Maher and Janet Maher (Poore) on June 20, 1938 and passed away on January 8, 2021. He was a contributor to the community as a coach and avid supporter of the music programs at Grass Jr. High School and Henry Sibley High School. He was an avid storyteller who loved people, a sports enthusiast and a talented piano player who was the source of entertainment at many parties and events. Susan was born in Auburn, Maine to Richard James Curley and Bettie Brown Curley on March 4, 1941. Susan passed away on January 7, 2022. She was creative across a multitude of disciplines, drawing, writing, event themes, cooking and her primary passion, theater in which she directed a number of plays at Henry Sibley High School. Peter and Susan were married for 57 years. They adored their 4 boys, Michael, Thomas, Peter and Daniel. Their family was raised at 121 Teresa Drive in West St. Paul. Upon retirement, they lived in Scarborough, ME and the Seacoast area of NH. Peter and Susan's great joy was spending time with their grand children, Sam, Madeline, Isabelle, Mackenzie and Kathryn Maher. Dad, affectionately known to them as "Pop" and mom as "Sue Sue", enjoyed many gatherings with them at their cabin in Standish, ME and at Higgin's Beach in Scarborough, ME. Peter is survived by his 3 brothers and their spouses, James and Connie Maher of Saint Paul, MN. John and Shelley Maher of Boothbay, ME. and Bruce and Jean Maher of Hudson, WI. Peter is predeceased by his parents. Susan is survived by her sister-in-law Isla Awen, her niece Cait (Curley) Lynch and her nephew Seamus Curley. Predeceased were her parents and her brother, Thomas Curley. Peter and Susan are survived by all 4 of their boys and their daughters-in-law, Jennifer Maher and Jean Maher. To recognize the incredible care Peter and Susan received over the last 5 years, they asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Harmony Homes by The Bay, 40 Briggs Way, Durham, NH 03824.
