Peter Henry Mather

Peter Mather, of St. Louis Park, was born March 31, 1937 and passed away peacefully Sept. 17, 2025. He grew up in Shakopee and, after graduating from high school, joined the Navy and was stationed in Brunswick, Ga. Shortly after his military discharge he met the love of his life, Judie Goetzenberger. They were married a year later and recently celebrated their 66th anniversary.

His first job as a civilian was with the Red Owl Bakery in Hopkins. He later worked for G&K's Linen Service and then as a route salesman for Old Dutch Foods.

Pete is survived by Judie and their two sons: Dan (Rollie) and Dale (Melinda). He has one remaining sibling (Lorraine) who lives in San Diego. He was preceded in death by siblings Rosella, Arlene, Yvonne and Leroy.

Pete loved all sports, but his favorites were baseball (Shakopee Town Ball), golf, bowling, hunting and fishing - and he was good at all of them. He also enjoyed the Canterbury ponies and Mystic Lake - where he was not as good.

There will be a "Celebration of Life" on October 9th (NOT the 8th) at the MN Veteran's Home from 12:00 to 2:00, starting with pizza and Tootsie Pops.
