Peter D. McMichael, 72, of Independence Twp., passed away without suffering, in his home on Sunday, December 22, 2019, with his two loyal boys, Huck and Tito, by his side. Pete was born August 31, 1947, to the late John H. and Valeria D. (Henderson) McMichael, in the family home, on Springwood Farm. He was a 1965 graduate of Hopewell High School, and later attended Penn State University. After graduation, he started his own construction business, which later grew into Pete McMichael Construction and MichelleCo Inc. Mr. McMichael carved out a name for himself in many aspects of the construction trades. His first love was "playing in the dirt." Over his 52 years as a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #66, he both mentored and challenged many young men and women, and worked with people who became lifelong friends. He was known to say he "never truly worked a day in his life" because he loved his trade. He was also a Lifetime Member of B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge # 1221 in Aliquippa, PA. When he found the time to relax, he enjoyed doing so with friends and family, and was a lover of animals and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by two beloved brothers, Donald "Duck" McMichael and John H. "Jack" McMichael; and his wife, Janice L. (Demma) McMichael. He is survived by his brother, James P. "Jeep" (Gigi) McMichael; his baby sister, Nancy C. McMichael and her husband, John P. McCandless; his son, Robert M.(Janet) McMichael; his daughter, Michelle J. McMichael and her partner, Peter G. Coe; two step-children, Bernard Pyles and Shannon Gum; five grandchildren, Jade and Grey McMichael, Kyle Gum, Brenton and Rosie Pyles, many loving nieces and nephews.; his loyal companion, Joanne Lynn, and devoted friends, Stephen and Amanda Shinnamon. Friends will be received Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, Pa. 15001, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.
