IRA | Merton O. Baldwin, of Route 176, passed away at the age of 89, on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22 at Keysor Funeral Service, 11362 South St., Cato. A graveside service and burial will be at noon Saturday, Aug. 23 in Ira Union Cemetery.

Merton was born on Jan. 14, 1925 in the Town of Ira; a son to the late Loren and Stella Tindall Baldwin. He owned and operated a dairy farm that was passed down from his father. He loved and lived for his family and farm; it was his passion and soul. He was greatly respected by all for his relentless work ethic. In addition to farming, he was an insurance agent for 39 years with Midstate Mutual and was a past member of the Ira Fire Department.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Mary; three daughters, Janice Chase, of Baldwinsville, Donna (Michael) Hall, of Florida, and Lori Baldwin, of Ontario; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Becky) Chase, Daniel Chase, Emily (Michael) Maloof, Benjamin (Maggie) Hall, Sarah (Nick) Hyatt, Jennifer Bishop, and Edward Bishop; six great-grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Allison, Alyssa, Sam, Katie, and Lucy; brother, William (Gertrude) Baldwin, of Oswego, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Charlotte Terpening, and son-in-law, Edward Chase.
