Mr. Peter Anthony Oliverio Jr., 46 years of age, of Bridgeport, passed away on Monday (Sept. 22, 2008) at the family home in Bridgeport. He was born Sept. 24, 1961, the son of the late Peter Anthony “Sonny” Oliverio and Shirley Donnellan Oliverio of Bridgeport. Mr. Oliverio is survived by two sons, Mario and Alec of Morgantown; brothers, Patrick Keith Oliverio and his wife Carla of Bridgeport, Philip Michael Oliverio of Bridgeport; sisters, Petrina A. Bonamico and her husband Nunzio of Bridgeport, Patti V. Simon and her husband James of Clarksburg and Polly A. Washburn and her husband Todd of Morgantown; 10 nephews, Patrick, Nicholas, Nunzio, Carlo, Trey, Anthony, Wakem, Dante, James and Sonny; six nieces, Briana, Maria, Perris, Victoria, Grace and Mollie.He was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Susan Madsen Oliverio; his paternal grandparents, Peter and Angeline “Ann” Oliverio; and his maternal grandparents, James and Rebecca Donnellan.Pete graduated in 1979 from Notre Dame High School. While in high school, he was an all-state baseball player. He led Harrison County in batting average for two seasons. He went to Fairmont State College on a baseball scholarship and studied architecture/engineering technology and then transferred into the accredited five-year program at the University of Tennessee and completed his degree in architecture.Following graduation, he relocated to Orlando, Fla., and worked for two architecture firms for the next five years. He moved back to West Virginia to be close to his family and worked for Alpha Associates in Morgantown. He started his own business, Pete Oliverio and Associates and moved it to Morgantown after outgrowing his location in Bridgeport.The family was very proud of his business accomplishments, which included designing several Texas Roadhouse locations and dozens of commercial retail and office properties. He designed the new addition to the Sporting Club and club cottages at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, a multi-million dollar waterfront estate in Naples, Fla., the new city building for Bridgeport and the new designs and concepts for the Oliverio family restaurants. For all of his accomplishments, he was recognized as a “Young Gun” by the West Virginia Executive Magazine.He was a devoted father and family man. He was very proud of his children, Mario and Alec, and loved to share that with his family and friends. The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Cheryl France, who was able to diagnose Pete with Frontal Temporal Dementia/ALS (Lou Gehrigs’s Disease).Friends will be received at the All Saints Catholic Church, 317 East Main St., Bridgeport, from 1-8 p.m. Thursday. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Harry N. Cramer and the Rev. Father Hilarion V. Cann as celebrants.The interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery.The family requests memorial contributions be made payable to the Mario and Alec Oliverio Educational Fund, P.O. Box 208, Bridgeport, WV 26330.Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.The Oliverio family has entrusted the care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main St., Bridgeport.
