This is such a shock and is so sad. We pray for Peter and all you Provosts, old friends of the Swansons from Wenham. May you be comforted by his such very good work - way beyond the call of duty.

We ran many miles together, and I am thankful for the things I learned from him. He talked often of his love for his family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My family and I have deep sympathy for the Provost family. Peter was a profound mentor for me professionally and personally. He was a kind, gentle, and highly effective teacher. His bright smile, quick wit, and contagious laugh made it easy for me and everyone he encountered to quickly consider him a friend. The world needs more people like Peter. He will not be forgotten.

He was strong, principled, generous of spirit, industrious and always positive. He had a quick wit and was always supportive and encouraging, empathetic and kind. He was one of my best friends, together with each of you. I close my eyes and hear his voice.
