For the past several years, I have had the pleasure of working with Mike at Northlands. He always seems to have a smile on his face, a bounce in his step and a friendly "hello" for everyone. On one occasion, I recall him introducing me to his little brother, Peter, who also had that friendly (yet somewhat curious) smile and pleasant disposition.

My uncle has been an RCMP member for almost 20 years, and yet I can not pretend to know the pain or sense of loss of your family, but I can hope that your strong faith will bring you comfort and eventually a sense of peace.

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, always.

And Mike, I sincerely hope that your smile and that little bounce in your step will one day return...becuase it reminds me that no matter how bad things may seem, there is always a brighter side of things....

All my best.

Peter,

I didn't know you well, but I cherish the memories of you that I have. You helped me when I was a lost 18 year old looking for a friend, and let me know that I had also found a friend in you; you remembered me months later when I was still looking for that same friend, only this time not so lost. You helped to put me on a path in life, you've inspired me to new heights. I will always carry a piece of you in my heart, and remember your extraordinary kindness.

You were a true miracle.

I first want to let you know that my heart goes out to you and your entire family. As I sat and watched the funeral on tv I cried. Everyday will be a struggle but as they go on you with find the strenght within you to heal.I have two very good friends that are also RCMP and I cant even imagine going though this. My 14 yr old has been looking forward to having a career as an officer but after watching the pain that you and the other families are going through I really dont believe I could handle it.Even though I did not know Peter or the other officers I still feel the pain of loosing these brave men who are risking there lives to protect us. May god be with you all and give you strenght to heal. God Bless

Don, Beth, Micheal, and Julia,

I am extremely sadden by the loss of Peter. I went to Stony Plain Memorial Composite High School with Peter, and Julia. Peter was in choir with myself. Even when he graduated, he took time out of his busy scheduel to see us sing. I talked with him a few times, and he was a very kind hearted man, and he will be missed. I just want to say thank you for allowing my brother Kirk be apart of the paulbarrer party, it was a great honor to our family to have him go and be apart of his funeral on Tuesday, March 8, 2005.

Peter will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. We will see you again Pete.

Rev and Mrs. Schiemann, Mike and Julia. I'm so sorry for your loss. I went to Concordia with Peter and he was just here visiting me in January. I always thought of him like a brother and I'm going to miss him so much. He was such a wonderful friend and he made going through school a breeze. I loved him dearly and I will NEVER forget him. God bless you all.

My condolences to all of the family. Three of my extended family were involved in police service. Two were R.C.M.P. and one was L.A.P.D. They have all retired now and with the grace of God, they are all healthy and happy. Your son and brother was a true hero and Canada is a safer place because of his dedication. God Bless the family during this terrible time of loss.

I don't know your family, but we are both part of God's family. While I am very sad to hear of your loss, but I am also very touched by your faith in God during this time. We don't grieve in the same way as those without hope. I pray that you will continue to cling to the hope that we have in Jesus. May God shine through you and comfort you with the peace that passes all understanding.

Through a friend in Canada I learned of the terrible, senseless loss of these 4 young men~doing their duty as RCMP officers. I am extending my condolences on behalf of my family to yours~~Peter sounded like a wonderful young man and his legacy will live on in all those with whom he came in contact.

Peter was a student of mine at Concordia. I will always remember his friendly smile and calm manner. At convocation ceremonies we watch our graduates walk across the stage, full of promise and potential. Peter accomplished some of his goals and his life touched many people, but he had so much more to give. Our sorrow is all the deeper because we know how much he would have contributed if he had not been taken so early. We are saddened by his death and particularly by the loss of what would have been. Peter will be fondly remembered by all of us who were fortunate to have him as a student.

God’s healing grace to his family and friends.

Dear Schiemann Family:

Jesus said, "There are many rooms in my Father's house, I go to prepare a place for you..." We all know that Peter now occupies one of these rooms in his Father's'house. In this lenten season may the assurance of the risen Christ comfort all who mourn the fallen officers. May the Peace of the Lord be with your family.

God Bless you,

Dearest Pastor, Beth, Michael and Julia;

I'm so sorry that I couldn't make it out with my parents. I'm sure that you have all been experiencing tremendous sorrow at this time. Pastor Schiemann, I heard you say on one interview that you know that some good will come out of this horrible accident, but you just can't see it at this time. I want you to know that part of Peter's legacy was his faith. It has allowed me to witness to many people over the past few days about what comfort it is to your family to know that Peter has joined his Father in Heaven. People are amazed at how strong your family has appeared, and I have been able to tell them that a large part of that strength comes from your faith in our Lord. Please know that Peter is still touching lives and will continue to do so, even in death.

You and your family have all my love as you deal with this difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the pleasure of meeting Peter while he was in high school as my son Kent was a close friend of Mike's and I listened to these boys as they dealt with the grief they went through during high school when they lost one of their fiends. The belief as a family and the belief in their faith came out strong. This belief will continue to carry your family on. Don and I were shocked when Kent gave us the call. We are so sorry for your loss.

As a mother of a 23 year old daughter now in training to be a Police Officer, my most deepest, sincere heartfelt sympathies go out to all the families inflicted by this hideous crime. I cannot imagine the pain you all must be feeling but yet I know as a mother of an officer to be, it is something we all dread to have to face as our children put their lives on the line for our country and for the sake of keeping the peace in this kaotic society. In reading this obituary on your son "Peter", my heart jumped for joy as I read that he was indeed a child of God's and now is residing with our Lord and Savior. I thank God for sharing Peter with us,I thank God for loving our Brother In Christ, I thank God for the gift of serving, and protecting he instilled into Peter. Praises that Peter has enherited his gift of eternal life as OUR Lord promises us! May God give you peace and comfort to your families! In His Holy and Precious Name!
