Peter M. Spizzirri

Peter Mario Spizzirri, born July 31, 1913, in Monessen, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, in La Verne, Calif. He was a dedicated Monessen Greyhound. Playing the position of tackle, he was a member of the proud and undefeated team that won Monessen High School its first Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League championship in 1930. He went on to serve his country and was a veteran of the United States Army/Air Corps, having fought in Okinawa during World War II. He was retired from the Technicolor Corporation after 25 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Caterino); his daughter, Rita Ann (John) Wilkins; his grandson, John Peter Frantz and wife Stephanie (Pendell); and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Peter. He is now joined in rest with his parents, Concetta and Anthony; his sisters, Ella, Emma and Ida; and his brothers, Domenick, Louis and Hugo.
