It is my pleasure once again to write something about a wonderful man who is missed so much. I think about how much he has affected not only my life but the lives of the many students and co workers who had the honor of knowing him. He is thought about every day. May he rest in peace and blessings to his family.

It was an honor to know Peter Steck and to work with him during the years that my children attended MGV. He was a wonderful principal and an advocate for all children. He was well loved by the children and well respected by parents and teachers alike. My deepest condolences to the Steck family. You truly have lost a great man.

What a wonderful man, great teacher and principal. Amazing father and grandfather. You took a chance and hired me as a kindergarten para back in '96. You were a sweet boss and and we all admired you. Every year you came to the high school graduation to honor the students. We will miss you terribly. Our prayers are with Alice and your family. Thank you for everything.

Mr. Steck was a man with a tremendous heart and a beautiful soul. His gentle ways with all of the children (and parents) of MGV were never forgotten, years after our children had left the beautiful environment he created with the teachers. Everyone was amazed by the fact that he greeted every single child who entered his school every morning by their first name. His love of music and the arts, and his encouragement to the children to pursue their dreams lifted self esteem and their spirits. He was a true gentleman who welcomed parents, grandparents, and 'special people' into his school. My favorite memory is of Mr. Steck standing in the corner of the gym, listening to all of our little children singing to their grandparents, with years in his eyes, and he told me that there is nothing more beautiful to him than hearing children sing. Thank you, Mr. Steck, for showing children that they all have something to offer, and they all have special talents inside. You will be greatly missed, and we will never forget you.

"No man stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child" (Abraham Lincoln) Measured by this standard Mr. Steck was a giant man, and I am forever grateful to him for the kindness and support he showed my son when he was a student at MGV.

We feel extremely blessed to have known and worked with such a great man with the biggest heart and most gentle soul. I especially enjoyed his enthusiasm on the Site Base Team for many years. He was a dedicated man with the goal, full steam ahead, for all the children in his school (MGV)to be safe, happy and to get the best education possible. We feel honored to have had the pleasure of his friendship and leadership while our children were under his care. Thank you Mr.Steck....you were a wonderful man and you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace....Our hearts and prayers for those you left behind...

My prayers to all of the Steck family. I was honored to know such a wonderful man called Mr. Steck when I attended DPA elementary school ( that was the name when I attended). Although I had Mr Wilcox as a sixth grade teacher, Mr. Steck was a kind, thoughtful man who always talked to you, shared his wisdom and knew your name, he made every person feel special!
My prayers and blessings to all.
Warm regards,

The North Babylon community has lost a great man. Mr Steck was our beloved Principal for many years at MGV. Not only was he a wonderful man but he also was a kind soul. I'm sure many of us " new Moms" were happy knowing that we left our children with such caring adults. Teachers, staff and especially Mr Steck made sure once those children passed through the doors they were safe and happy. I especially remember when the PTA asked if we could put on a school play,Mr Steck was on board from day one. We "improved" the script Snow White, and with his open door policy he helped us any way we could. It was such a hit the school continued on each year, offering all of the children a chance to become a "star". Mr Steck was our star at MGV, they even named the auditorium after him when he retired. Now everyone will remember what a wonderful man we had the pleasure of knowing. Our thoughts are with your family. You will be greatly missed.

Life is so unkind at times ....Peter Steck had so much more life to live. My heart is saddened by the news of his passing. I have so many wonderful memories of him. Working with the PTA while he was the principal was such a memorable time in my life. He always allowed us to take our ideas and fly with them. I always looked forward to hearing his Grandparent/Special Person`s Day speech. One year he spoke about how one of his Grandparents would always come to visit and would have a gallon of ice cream tucked under their arm but it wasn't the ice cream he looked forward to, it was the time they gave him. Needless to say I stood in that auditorium with tears running down my face. He touched my heart . He was also the man who offered me a para position as a 1:1 with an autistic little boy. I really wasn't sure I could do it but he had confidence in me and convinced me to take the position. I stayed with that little boy throughout his years at MGV. Mr. Steck gave me a gift by convincing me to take the job. That little boy touched my life in ways I could never imagine. That little boy is now going to college and has grown into a fine young man. He was a wonderful, gentle, caring principal and not only was I fortunate to have worked for him, he was also the principal of my children. He was on my mind today as I spent 9/11 with him at MGV...not knowing it would also be the day he would join all the other angels. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family. My thoughts and prayers are with them at this very difficult time. RIP Peter C. Steck....You will be missed.

Mr. Steck will always be remembered in our hearts as a loving and respected man, who our children, and we, were blessed to have known as our principal and mentor. How appropriate that this extraordinary man passed on a day when we mourn other heros, for he is one of ours.

It's always sad to see good people leave us, I have fond memories of Mr. Steck's 5th grade class back in 1975. Lots of long division learned. Through the years as a CPA those lessons have come in very handy. Mr. Steck was a wonderful teacher, always pleasant and fair. My regards to his family. May your precious memories give you peace. And my God be with him and bless his family.
