Peter Robert Stevenson

Cleveland - Peter R. Stevenson, 61, of Cleveland, TN, formerly of Lexington, MA and San Diego, CA died in Chattanooga, TN on May 13, 2024 following complications related to a series of strokes.

Peter was born in Cambridge, MA on August 11, 1962 as the son of Robert and Hilda Stevenson. He grew up in Lexington, MA and graduated from Lexington High School in 1980. He went on to graduate from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania in 1984 with a degree in Physics. For several years after graduation, Peter taught Physics at both the high school and post-high school levels in both Massachusetts and California. Peter moved to San Diego, CA in 1988 and lived in California for the next 30 years. Eventually, he made a career shift to IT work in the private sector.

Peter always enjoyed following sports (particularly his hometown teams from Boston.) He loved jazz and blues and regularly attended concerts and music festivals with his friends throughout his years in California. He also had a great love for his dogs who brought him joy daily. Peter's friends and family knew him as a quiet man with a dry sense of humor and someone who was always willing to help out as a personal "tech consultant" on all things computer-related when called upon.

In 2016, Peter returned to his hometown of Lexington, MA to have the opportunity to spend time with his aging parents until they passed in 2019 and 2020. In 2022 Peter moved south to settle in Tennessee with his two "adopted" children from his days in California, Bryana Bebout, 38, and Aaron Hudson, 28. Unfortunately his time there was cut short by his failing health as the result of a series of strokes and he entered a hospice facility in February of 2024. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Stevenson of Acton, MA.

In accordance with Peter's wishes there will be no public memorial service. Contributions in Peter's name may be made to Buddy Dog Humane Society in Sudbury MA to honor his love for his 4-legged friends (buddydoghs.org/donate.)
