Peter Stretz

STRETZ, Peter Joseph Passed away on August 29, 2010, in Phoenix, AZ, surrounded by his loving family. Peter was born on January 14, 1926 in Ruse, Bulgaria, and immigrated to Canada in 1948. In 1952 he married Margaret Rose, and they enjoyed forty-seven years together until her passing in 1999. Peter proudly served twenty years with the Canadian Armed Forces, retiring as a Warrant Officer, he then went on to work an additional seventeen years with Opsco Industries in Calgary. In 2000 Peter married Ramona, and for the past ten years they lived life to the fullest, travelling, golfing, playing bocce ball, and dividing their time between Sun City West and Sylvan Lake. Peter had a quick wit, sharp mind, and loved to negotiate to get the ""best deal"" on things; a trait that we are proud to inherit! Peter is survived by his wife Ramona, daughter Penny (Alex) of Toronto, son Dave (Patricia) of Calgary, his loving grandchildren Jennifer, Scott (Shannon), Nicole and Joel. Also stepfather to Patricia Ortloff and Steven Anderson, step-grandfather to Michael, Travis, Krista and step-great-grandfather to Taylor. Family meant everything to Peter; he was so proud and loved us all. His last wish was to have everyone together so he could say ""Good-Bye"". His wish was granted, and he left us shortly thereafter, to be reunited with Mom. A celebration of Peter's life will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, 1515 - 100 Street S.E., Calgary (17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road), on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Interment of ashes to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
