Peter Joseph Verchot

Peter Joseph Verchot, aged 64, of Pittsfield, MA, passed away on July 7, 2024. Born on February 24, 1960, in Pittsfield, MA, Peter was a dedicated professional and a beloved family man.

Peter took great pride in his career as a self-contractor. His notable work included the restoration of the Morewood Mansion, a project that showcased his craftsmanship and attention to detail. His professional journey was complemented by his service in the National Guard, where he embraced the discipline and camaraderie that defined his time with the military.

He was a man of strong beliefs, always eager to share his views and stand up for what he thought was right. Peter's dedication extended beyond his professional life into his personal interests. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, and cherished moments playing bocci and cards. Above all, spending time with his family was Peter's favorite pursuit, reflecting his deep-rooted protective nature.

Peter's educational background was rooted in Pittsfield, where he attended primary school and later graduated from Taconic High School's Carpentry Class of 1978. This foundation in carpentry not only paved the way for his career but also instilled in him a lifelong love for building and restoring.

Survived by his loving wife, Maribeth, Peter was a devoted father to his sons Jason Vivori, Joseph Verchot, Michael Clapper, daughter Sabrina Verchot, and son-in-law Phil Vivori. He was also a cherished grandfather to Kiley, Leah, Odin, and Jacob. Peter was preceded in death by his son, Eric Verchot, in 2010.

Peter Joseph Verchot will be remembered for his robust work ethic, his unwavering principles, and his profound devotion to his family. His family remembers him as a passionate man who loved fiercely. His memory will continue on through those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 28th from 5 to 7 at the First Baptist Church.
