Peter Zipperer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19, 2023.
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear son, brother, uncle, and friend, Peter Scott Zipperer, on November 11, 2023. He was 49 years old. He was a compassionate, generous, and caring person who dedicated his life to helping animals in need.

Peter was born on November 23, 1973, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He grew up with a passion for animals and always had a pet by his side. He graduated from Louisiana State University.

Peter was an animal advocate and rescuer. He adopted countless animals, giving them a loving home and a second chance at life. He had a knack for finding animals in need and would do his best to find them loving homes.

Peter is survived by his father, Peter, sister Patrica King, brother-in-law Brian and niece Olivia, his sister Pauline Gray, brother-in-law Randy and niece Megan, sister-in-law Marcy Bernard, brother-in-law Matt, niece Cate and nephew Brock.

He is also survived by his furry family: his dogs, Peggy, Squirt, Dudley, Angel, Gumbo, and Betsy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Tinsler Zipperer, and his loving wife, Ginger Ann Zipperer, who shared his love for animals.

A special thanks to Shawn Fleming and Peter's other reptile-loving friends for helping us find caring homes for his snakes, turtles, and tortoises.

Peter was a special and irreplaceable person who will always have a place in our hearts. We will miss him terribly, but we will never forget him. He was our son, brother, uncle, friend, and our hero. Rest in peace, Peter. You were the best animal lover ever.

I worked with Peter at Albertsons, he was a quiet fellow for the most part but when you got him to laugh his smile lit up a room. Never heard Peter have a negative word to say about anyone. He made you feel like who you saw was who he was nothing more nothing less. A really genuine guy. I happened to run across Peter later in life in another one of my jobs and just as I would have assumed he was still that same genuine person. You'll be missed Peter. RIP
