Phil Robertson Obituary
Phil Robertson, the business mogul and reality show star who rose from poverty to create the Duck Commander and "Duck Dynasty" empires, died May 25, 2025, at the age of 79 after a battle with Alzheimer's disease.?
Robertson grew up in deeply rural Louisiana without electricity or toilets in his home, often living off the land. His high school athleticism helped him earn his way into Louisiana Tech University, where he played football alongside future Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw. However, despite interest from recruiters, Robertson had no interest in playing football professionally. He preferred to hunt and fish. In the early 1970s, he invented the Duck Commander duck call, which better mimicked the actual sound of ducks than earlier models. The Duck Commander became a huge success, eventually leading to "Duck Dynasty," an A&E reality show that put a spotlight not just on Robertson's business, but on a colorful cast of characters, most of whom were his family. The show was a big hit, ran for 11 seasons, made the Robertsons stars, and helped turn Robertson into an icon of outdoor living. His expressions of faith and outspoken views also made him popular among conservative Christian audiences.
"Saddened to hear of the passing of Phil Robertson-a man of deep faith, bold conviction, and unwavering love for his family," neurosurgeon and former U.S. secretary of housing and urban development Ben Carson said on the social media platform X. "I'll never forget the time I spent with Phil and his wonderful family at their homestead in West Monroe, LA. We rode through the swamp stopping at his favorite duck blinds before being welcomed by Miss Kay with a warm, home-cooked meal, surrounded by their extended family and close friends. The genuine sense of faith and fellowship was tangible-something that's all too rare these days. He was an American original who never backed down from the truth. His legacy of faith, family, and freedom will live on."

My father and I Tuskegee Airman Staff Sergeant Homer Hogues was invited to the Independence Bowl. The Robinson Family invited us along with Tuskegee Airman Lt. Spann. We were treated like royalty. My father passed in 2023. Our family send condolences and prayers to the Robinson Family.

My deepest condolences to your family. My family and I have watched the DUCK DYNASTY show since it came out. And over and over after that. My favorite part probably is the first or second episode of season one, when ya'll went frog hunting late, and there was a snake in the tree, fell into the boat, Willie, jumping out, and Phil looking at Willie like he was crazy and Jace laughing a bit and kind of like, what are you doing?! I died laughing. Hilarious. I feel like my family and I were actually part of your family and ALL OF YOUR FAITH. Thank you for all that you have done and live strong, love all, and above all LOVE THE GREAT LORD ABOVE. Which I know ya'll already do. God bless. Phil will always be in our hearts.

We never missed an episode of commander my husband and I loved Phil. We´ve lost a great soul but praise the Lord... he´s with his Saviour! My husband passed away 3 1/2 years ago and today would´ve been our 55th wedding anniversary. I´m sure he will be excited when he sees that Phil has come home to Heaven! My love, prayers, and sympathy go out to the whole Robertson family. I know they miss him terribly, but now knowing that he is in the arms of Jesus is surely a wonderful comfort! God bless you all!

I know he´s in heaven looking down at y´all with the biggest smile bc his legacy will live on in all of you. I watched his celebration of life and I could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, especially when the grandchildren sang praise and worship; it was beautiful. We are from Louisiana Lake Charles in fact, but we always drive through the area of Monroe and Bossier City in Shreveport and other towns and we do and they enjoy watching Phil on that show. His life is such an inspiration to me of the miraculous power of our creator to change a man´s life for his glory. I never met Phil but I have cried seeing the videos and it has gave me more faith and hope to keep praying for my son who is struggling with his own faith. You have been an example of a true Godly man and man´s man to me over the years. I never was able to meet you in person but because Jesus Christ is our Lord I will meet you someday. You really will be truly missed by many including some you didn´t know like myself. I always told people over the years that y´all were my people, Godly folks who enjoy spending time in out in Gods Creation, If only I knew in your last days you wanted to get back out into the woods one more time, I would have made it happen, I am an Army veteran and I know loss, but you are with the Lord and I know that´s better than anywhere else we could possibly imagine here on planet earth. I always had an idea of how great it would be to come work for you and help to carry on the Duck commander legacy of being a company that puts God first, not too many companies out there today that stand for what you stood for, that is Jesus Christ and we´re Bold in it.
