Philip L. Brach Sr.

I knew Phil as a cancer patient and as an advocate for other cancer patients. He was a tiger and I respected and admired him for his toughness. He fought the good fight. Bill

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself … any man’s death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

Phil will be greatly missed. His tories and sense of humor will be remebered for a long time. I keep one story about the beatitudes in my wallet and I will remeber Phil everytime I share it with someone. My condolences to the family.

I am also saddened by the loss of Mr. Brach, as a knew him. I have been a friend of his son, Phil, since high school and I was unaware of Mr. Brach's passing until yesterday afternoon. The Brachs are a great family and I send my condolences. Mr. Brach was a very nice man and I regret not stopping by to say hi in recent years. Mr. Brach, may you rest in peace. Thank you for the fond memories.

I just found out that Dr. Philip Brach passed away on Monday. The wake was yesterday, and there are funeral services today at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at Western Ave on Chevy Chase Circle, starting in about 20 minutes (9:30 AM).

Phil was a long-time supporter and sponsor of MathCounts in DC, and was an active member of the DC Society of Professional Engineers (DCSPE). He was also a dean at UDC, an all-round nice guy, and a very hard worker.

Though he did manage to pass along the baton of leadership about a year ago, the DC MathCounts program will not be the same without his active support, enthusiasm, organizing, and drive.

He will be sorely missed.

Dear Brach family, Certainly all of us at UDC will miss Philip. I served for him as a department Chairperson not that long ago and I got to appreciate how great managerial talent that Phil had.. We all love him

We are saddened by the loss of our dear friend and colleague, but take comfort in that his distinguished presence has made the world a better place for all. May the Peace of the Lord remain with you always.

Our family has had the pleasure of being Mr. Brach's neighbor for the last 6 years. He and Mrs. Brach gave us a most warm welcome to the neighborhood when we moved in. Never a day went by that Mr. Brach did not smile and wave or stop to chat with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wonderful family at this time.

While waiting at the bus stop in front of Mr. Brach's house, I often would see him pick up his grandkids and take them into his house or in his car to school or to their errands. He always showed a lot of love to them, and always had a smile and kind word to me - just a stranger waiting for the bus. And now, at this time of year, he's able to celebrate Jesus's birthday with Jesus. Hopefully the knowledge of that blessing will bring comfort to his loving family.

On behalf of all of Dr. Brach's former engineering students employed here and Ben Dyer Assoicates, Inc., Mrs. Brach and the Brach family, may the God of all peace comfort and strenghten you in this hour of great loss. Dr. Brach was a good man, a great educator, and true giver. All of us are better because of the knowledge and wisdom he shared with us.

My heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathy are with all the members of his family. His great concern and dedication were a true inspiration to me during the almost 40 years that I have known him. Both the city and the UDC Family have truly lost a higher education warrior.

I always enjoyed seeing Mr. Brach's happy face across the street. He was a pleasure to speak with and a good neighbor. From my home office, I would watch him picking up his granddaughters in the morning for their special time together, and playing with all the children on the weekends in his huge yard. He really enjoyed being so close to them. His smiles and waves made me know I was part of a real neighborhood. I won't forget him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. I will always remember Phil for his great mind,his compassion,his dedication to his family and friends and last but not least his strong faith in God.

To Margaret and Family, May the Grace and Peace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you always. Thank you for caring and sharing Philip L. Brach with others, especially the UDC Family that he loved so much.
