To the family of Phil Gillespie. Jean and I extend our sympathy to you all. Phil and Jane sure had a great extended family. When Phil was born, 1 month prior to the birth of my twin brother, Jack, and me his Mother and Dad lived on Garland St. across from our house in Edgewood. We were all baptised at St. Ansalums in Swissvale. Jean and I visited with Phil and Jane in Pittsburgh and I had a chance to see him a couple of times when he visited Portland, OR. On one occasion Danial and his wife had us to dinner. I did not know Phil very well. We had no contact growing up. We were both in the Navy and graduated as engineers. So we had a little in common. Jean and I are stil pretty active and in relatively good health. I keep in touch with cousin LUCY(named after my mother). LOVE TO YOU ALL - first cousin CHESS

I first met Phil 20 years ago when we were Seculat Franciscans. Phil was a Scout Master and a very busy man. He was a great inspiration to me. and a better person then I could aspire to be. Thank you, Phil for teaching me by your fine example what service is really all about! Pax et Bonum, Dennis Govachini

To The Family of Phil,
What a great man! Phil was a mentor to me in my early days in business, and I am eternally grateful for the wisdom he imparted, the joy it was to work with him and the example he set for me on how to be a gentleman, salesman and engineer. Blessings and Prayers to your family and to all who were touched by Phil.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Phil Gillespie. I worked with Phil when he was with Duffett and Associates. He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word; I doubt if there are many men who possess his high regard for others. It was a great priviledge to have known Phil.

My sympathy to the family of Phil Gillespie. Your father was the man who hired me as his secretary in 1968 at (W) in Forest Hils. He was a kind man for whom to work. Often running late, he would ask me to first call your mother to get his bag ready and then to call the airline on which he was flying to ask that the plane be held until he got there. The airline just laughed. I retired 40 years later. May he rest in peace.

To Amy and all of your family,
Your dad was truly a special man and a very loving father. It was evident that he loved his children. I hope you will find comfort that though the world has lost such a special person, heaven has gained an angel, and he and your mom are once again together. My deepest sympathies to all of you. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers in the days and months ahead.
With love,

Uncle Phil was the one who helped me learn to ski, who along with Aunt Jane hosted many sleepovers with my cousins, and shared his love of trains with all. I will never forget the vacations Uncle Phil spent with us in Oregon and how he and my dad made me laugh over trimming my bushes and fixing my dryer. Uncle Phil was such a gentle soul, so patient and caring. I will cherish my memories and I will pray for comfort to all my cousins. Love and hugs, Liz Gillespie Haushalter

For all of Phil's children and grandchildren: I knew Phil from the time I was a little girl. I have good memories of visiting Phil's parents, my uncle Phil and aunt Loretta. They were always very warm and welcoming to me. Phil was a bright and thoughtful man and I am sure that you miss him.
