Philip Macdonald Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 2, 2023.
Philip (Phil) Gregory Macdonald, 53, of Burlington, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He is survived by his mother, Pamela Macdonald, his stepmother Kathy Macdonald, his brother, Darren Macdonald and his wife Darci, his sister Paula Macdonald, his uncles Bruce Avery and Bruce Macdonald, his aunt Ellen Macdonald, his cousin Elizabeth Avery and nephews Colin and Andrew Macdonald. He is also survived by his former spouse, Angela Wilkes. He is predeceased by his father, R. Gregory Macdonald, his grandfathers Paul Avery and Ronald Macdonald, his grandmothers Edna Avery and Elizabeth Macdonald, and many beloved pets.

Phil was born on April 3rd, 1969, in Boston. He was raised in Burlington and attended Austin Preparatory School and Suffolk University. Phil loved spending time with his friends and family, being around animals and in nature. He also loved his work as a Network Engineer and the scientific world. Phil had a love for music, making others laugh and had a truly fun and loving personality that always held so many people in his heart.

Phil dearly loved his parents. Always taking any free time he had to be with them, simply to be around and share conversations. Not only were they his parents, but they were also his best friends. Phil loved being their son and put his whole soul into being a great representation of them.

For his family, Phil shared the same generosity and love. He always wanted to be around his extended family, simply to be present but also to include himself in their lives, which was so incredibly important to him. Whether it was a car ride to a local store or to a park he loved to walk around, Phil cherished any time he could spend with his family.

As a brother, Phil took tremendous pride in helping guide, support and teach the most important lessons a brother can. He took great delight in the accomplishments of his siblings, and they could feel his support everywhere around them and do still.

Phil's incredible presence has certainly changed this world and he is already greatly missed. The ability he had to connect with all the people he met and to also truly care about them was an incredible gift he possessed much like his father. One of the most important parts of Phil's life was being a true friend to those people he worked with and those who knew him growing up. He always took great pride in talking about these people and would share notable things happening in their lives with his family. Almost as a way of linking all of us together in a bigger group that had a connection through Phil and his tremendous spirit. Phil will be greatly missed by many but will live on in our hearts and in all the memories shared.

The family would like to thank all those that have reached out to offer their condolences and those that may in the future. It means the world to us and helps to keep Phil alive in our hearts. Those who knew Phil know that he loved animals and donations can be made in his honor to the MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center in Jamaica Plain.

Dear Pam & Family,
You succeeded in capturing the essence of Phil in your remembrance! I am sharing two photos of Phil taken about 10 years ago. One photo was taken on a trip to Drumlin Farm in Lincoln, MA. The other was at a restaurant in Eastham, on Cape Cod, MA. They were two of the wonderful adventures that we shared over the years. He was my best friend. He will always be in my heart and mind. I will always love you Phil.
