Philip "Pete" McClure Sr., 89, of Lake Helen, Fla., formerly of Mifflinburg and Troy, Pa., passed way Thursday, March 31, 2016 at his home in Lake Helen, Fla.

Born July 23, 1926 in Columbia Cross Roads, Pa., Philip Orin was a son of the late Fred and Ruth (Benson) McClure. He graduated with Troy High School's class of 1944 and received a farming degree from Future Farmers of America. On June 22, 1946 Pete married the former Marie Teribury in East Troy. They were blessed with nearly 61 years together and raised four children.

In addition to his love for dairy farming, Pete worked for the Oliver Corp. and the Chef Boy-R-Dee Company. He also enjoyed times spent camping and traveling. In 1962 Pete and Marie established their family's farm in Mifflinburg into McClure's Mobile Home and Campground and together saw to its daily operations until retiring in 1977.

Surviving are his children: Philip Jr. (Gail) McClure of Crystal River, Fla., Marilyn McClure (John Schultheis) of Columbia Cross Roads, Julie McClure of Lake Helen, Fla., and Susan (Russell) Troup of Mifflinburg, Pa.; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two siblings, Jane (Bruce) Bresee, and Paul (Jeanette) McClure; three sisters-in-law: Betty Teribury, Shirley Brown and Phyllis (Harold) Foster; a brother-in-law, Clifton (Dorcus) Welch; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife Marie on March 10, 2007.

The family invites friends to call from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 9, at the Pepper Funeral Home 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton, with Rev. Kenneth Marple officiating the funeral service at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Troy, Pa.
