My husband and I did flyfishing with Phil. He was such a wonderful man. He was a gentle spirit with a big heart. I found his card today and when I looked him up I found that he had died. My condolences to his family. He was a man with a big personality and a gentle spirit.

Many of my best memories of growing up in Ann Arbor were hanging out with you. There are too many good times and moments to share here - all unforgettable. The music, the mischief, woodshop, BMX, chillin in your Mom's kitchen on 7th, the blur of high school parties, your Bel Air, etc. was everything a great youth was meant to be. The last time I saw you had been after a ten year hiatus. But it was like we were hanging out yesterday, that's how cool you were. I'm condfident your amazing spirit, sense of humor and a love for your friends, carries on with Robin and your kids. God Bless.

I think of Phil often, often while cycling in "cool" places as he would have said. It is hard to believe that it has been 5 years now since Phil moved on but fond memories of him continue so in that sense he does live on in us.

Four years now since you departed buddy and there are so many times that I find myself out on the bike thinking how much you would love to be on the ride. I know that you are.

Tom and I couldn't believe it when we saw Phil's name heading up an obituary in the A2News. Our beautiful dining room table was one of his last "local" commissions before he made the transition to Sedona. We so enjoyed working with him, and so admired his energy and immense talent. It was a rare treat finding him at the Ann Arbor Art Fair several years back. Our sincere condolences.

What sad news. Phil was such a talented artist and craftsman and I was honored to show his work at 16 Hands (in Ann Arbor) for many years before he and his family moved to the southwest. I will always remember his warmth, humor, wonderful energy, and the glow that came over him whenever he spoke of Robin and his boys. My heart goes out to his whole family and many friends.

I am shocked as I read this! Robin, Than, and Nic. What a great husband and father Phil has been. We met on Turner Park Ct. and had an absolutely amazing fun time there. Always a smile and a good story from Phil. I am deeply saddened by this terrible news. My thoughts are with you all at this time.

Robin, Than, Nic: I do not want to write about how this news affects me but to write to you all to send love and hugs right now. Katka and I are so sad to learn this news. I had been corresponding with Phil up until a short time ago and I hope that I was able to lift his spirits. We both so much enjoyed our visit with you both in 2013. Phil would be happy to know that I am using his design for the Michigan White Oak Kitchen now in the Czech Republic.

Phil was a part of my growing up in Ann Arbor from junior high through highschoo. Truly an amazing guy and great friend. From BMX, Concerts, Led Zeppelin, Hanging out at the house on 7th, Beers and more, Phil truly loved life. From our first shop classes together, it was pretty obvious he had the artisan's gift. Robin, my heart goes out to and your family.

Our deepest sympathy to you, Robin and your whole family. I remember you and Phil as a very young family living in Dexter. I remember Phil's kindness with his children when bringing my son Caleb over occasionally. I still think of your family when I drive by the old farmhouse in town that you lived in. So sad to hear of his passing so young. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I remember so many great times growing up with Phil in Ann Arbor, Playing hockey together, cruising in his 57 Chevy's, going to the Island to help build his family a small cabin...he was so talented, funny and an all around GREAT friend! My thoughts and prayers are with Robin and his Family.

We met Phil and Robin and the boys when they lived next door to our good friends Sue and Ray in Dexter, MI. They had the most beautiful garden in the front of their house. But the coolest thing was the GIANT sandbox that Phil built for the boys. We still remember Phil and Robin fondly.
