Phil was a great part of the retirement community. He knew all his riders by name and always had a joke to share. I loved to hear his stories of the many travels he and JoLean took over the years. He had more life stories than anyone I knew! Sending healing thoughts to the family.

Phil was our tax preparer for so many years. When we lived in Denver, we traveled up to Westminster just to have him do our taxes. He became more than a tax preparer...he became our friend. We enjoyed his jokes, his pictures of his family and him telling us all about any summer vacation trips. We always looked forward to the yearly Christmas newsletter! Much love and prayers to the family.

He was the best teacher I've ever had. I enjoyed school during my 5th grade due to his patience and ways. I also met my lifetime best friend Natalie in that year. I have thought of him and those great memories many times, and only wish I had not only thought of trying to call to let him know sooner! RIP

Phil was one of the most patient and wonderful man I ever met. I had to call him at least once a tax season for his great knowledge of taxes. I will miss him very much.

We will truly miss Uncle Phil. We always looked forward to his collection of jokes, pictures and stories. He always had interesting and personal things to say about the travels and sites he and Aunt JoLean traveled to. My children will always remember the Y Camp, horseback riding, and Phil's stories. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jolean and the rest of her family.

My next door neighbor. Best neighbor I ever had. Always eager to visit and tell wonderful stories. As friendly a person as I've ever had the privilege of knowing — he and JoLean are loved by Nancy and me, and Phil, of course, is irreplaceable and will be sorely missed.

JoLean and family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you. Phil was such a kind soul. I always enjoyed his company at 5:30am. He made getting up at 3 worth it for this former pool manager, just to hear his stories.

We have all lost our best friend with Phil's passing. Phil would call at least once a week just to say hi. He was so interested in our lives and loved hearing stories about some funny thing that had happened at work, or to ask us about our vacation, or some project we were working on. His ability to recall what everyone was doing made you feel very special - he truly cared about what you were doing. I loved how he had never met a stranger - within minutes Phil would have found something in common with every person he intersected with in his life. He was the nicest person I have ever known. He will be sorely missed by so many. I like to imagine that Phil is sitting in Heaven working on one heck of a letter to send all of us complete with postcards of heaven, jokes and cartoons from the Pearly Gates Times, and photos of he and JoLean on one of their adventures, or photos of him with his children and grandchildren. Love you Philip Ruggles!!!

Dear Jolene, Although I never met Phil, I do remember his kindness in coming to our "rescoe" by coming to our home at Mary Susan's request to thaw our frozen pipes. I was his mechanic for years. I am honored to have known such a wonderful
man. He would come in my shop, tell me his great stories or share a plate
of pastry Jo Lean have made. My condolences to the Ruggles family. He
will truly be missed.

Phil was a warm and caring personality that you could never forget. Over the years we shared many laughs and he always found the time to listen. So to JoLean and the rest of the family, I want you to know that you all will remain in my thoughts and prayers. May the good Lord bless you all with the strength to carry on.

JoLean, Michelle, Roxanne, and Matthew,

I was honored to have Phil as my mentor when I began teaching at Valley View Elem. in Adams #1 in 1981. Oh the laughs we shared! Our friendship began the very first day and has continued through the years. I even talked him into supervising a student teacher here in Castle Rock so I could see him on a monthly basis. I treasure our phone calls which always began..."Valerie, this is Phillip Ruggles". I will miss him.

My love and prayers are with all of you. He was a great man, teacher, and friend.

With love,

Val Marbury (Castle Rock, CO)

"Hi my name is Phil, and I'd like to be your neighbor". Thus began a wonderful friendship in July of 2002 that taught our family more than you could ever ask for. We are more kind, more giving, and more interested in the lives of others than our own because of Phil and JoLean.

You just knew you were going to hear a good story of Phil's when he would start with, "I don't know how to tell ya..." We are all better for having known Phil.

What a wonderful uncle to have in my life! It is a very fond childhood memory that when we traveled to Colorado I'd see my Uncle Phil and Aunt JoLean and their family. Several summers spent at the YMCA Camp and lots of outdoor activites! What great memories. Uncle Phil was a kind, good man.

Its not often in life that you meet a person that is a true, generous, giving human being. A person who gives more back than takes. A person who strives to help others. A person who makes a difference in others' lives. Phil was one of those rare persons. God Bless. You will be missed but never forgotten.
