I was saddened to find out today, June 1, of the passing away of Phil. I had talked to him about a yr. ago. He was my Commanding Officer when I served on the USS PIGEON at the N&MCRC in Phoenix. He was the finest Commanding Officer I served under in my 20 yrs. affiliated with the Reserve Center. He knew how to separate reality from fiction in the Reserves. He was always positive, and the people who served under him absolutely loved him. I was his Yeoman and helped with all the dreadful Reserve paperwork. My deepest condolences to you and your family. I worked for Phil in Modesto, and he shared with us news from home and family regularly. It was evident that his family meant everything to him. Again, my sympathy and prayers go to you and yours.

Ann, We were so sorry to hear of Phil's passing! For those of us who worked with him here in Modesto, we will always remember his great sense of humor and big smile! Plus, he taught me how to play craps....I can remember him drawing the craps table on a little piece of paper & teaching me how to bet. Ann, we will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers!
