Philip Torre Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 29, 2024.
Philip Anthony Torre of San Francisco, passed away surrounded by family on July 24, 2024 at the age of 80.

Phil, a life-long San Franciscan, was born in San Francisco on December 7, 1943. He was only child of John and Ardita Torre. His early life was shaped growing up in the legendary San Remo restaurant, in North Beach, which John and Ardita owned for 40 years along with their partner Nello Ragghianti. It was here that Phil learned the art of cooking and hosting guests, which remained a lifelong passion.

Phil attended Bellarmine High School, Stanford University, and USF Law School. He had a varied career as an attorney, generating interesting stories that he loved to share.

Phil married the love of his life, Pearl, in 1989. They, along with his daughter and Pearl's children, joined together and created a strong, loyal family devoted to supporting each other. Phil and Pearl were inseparable and he loved her truly and deeply. They enjoyed endless laughter and adventures while they were together, whether it be traveling, entertaining, listening to music or going to the gym. The most treasured thing of all to both of them was spending time with family. He was a solid and supportive presence in the life of his wife, their friends, the children and his grandchildren providing gentle guidance, telling stories, sharing life advice and cracking jokes. His relationship with Pearl is a role model to his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, his children Shannon (nee Torre) (husband Jim), Kim (husband Randy), Jadine (husband Kenn), Kirk (wife Rena), and his grandchildren Brian, Spencer, Cassidy, Kelsey, Brett, Beatrice and Isabella. He led a full and well lived life, with a large loving family and core of close friends. His family loved him beyond measure and are incredibly grateful to for his presence in their life. He is greatly missed.

Services will be held on Friday August 2, 2024 promptly starting at 10:30am, at The Italian Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated: Guide Dogs for the Blind (guidedogs.com) or The Parkinson's Foundation (parkinson.org).
