- Philip Arthur Tremblay, 83, of Jaffrey, died peacefully on May 11, 2019, at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a period of failing health.

He was born on May 5, 1936, in Gardner, MA, son of the late Philip C. and Louise (Potter) Tremblay. He grew up in the area and was a 1955 graduate of Conant High School. While in high school he enlisted in the United States National Guard, serving both in the Guard and the United States Army. He attended the Massachusetts Military Academy, graduating in 1962, as a forward observer. He was honorably discharged later that year.

He worked in sales and construction, selling and building houses, and as a cook for many local restaurants. Later, he owned Robidoux Trucking Company until 1976 before going to work for the United States Postal Service. He retired in 2000 after 13 years.

He was a part of building the first ice rink at Humiston Field, did renovations at St. Patrick Church and was also a part of Team Jaffrey and many renovation projects around Jaffrey.

He was a communicant and active member of St. Patrick Parish in Jaffrey. He was an usher at Masses and also assisted with funerals until recently. He was a member of Our Lady of Monadnock Knights of Columbus Council #8544, and was also a Color Corps member of St Patrick Assembly #2129 of the Knights of Columbus. He was involved with the Parish Council and Light of Christ as well as the St. Vincent DePaul Society. In the community, he belonged to the Lion's Club, the Monadnock Rod & Gun Club, the John Humiston American Legion Post #11, and the Jaffrey Grange.

One of his favorites with friends and family was fishing. With his cooking background, he enjoyed catering functions for most of the local organizations, everyone was his friend

He married Pauline E. Robidoux in a ceremony at St. Patrick Church on May 5, 1956, and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline E. Tremblay of Peterborough, formerly of Jaffrey; his two sons, Steven A. Tremblay and wife Kathryn of Belfast, ME, Christopher A. Tremblay of Harrisville and his daughter, Roberta Letourneau and husband Peter of Rindge; his six grandchildren, Jacob Tremblay of Los Angeles, Ethan Tremblay and girlfriend Elissa Bate of Winterport, Maine, Isaac Tremblay of Bangor, Maine, Julia Letourneau and boyfriend Timothy Jackson of Rindge, Luke Letourneau and wife Megan, one great grandchild Briella Letourneau of Rindge, Karl Letourneau and wife Shelby of Fitzwilliam: one sister in law, Anita Whitney and her husband Russell of Guyton, Georgia, as well as nieces, nephew and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his grandson, Timothy Letourneau.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River St, Jaffrey, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Patrick Church, 87 Main St, Jaffrey, NH on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Committal services will be held in the family lot at St. Patrick Cemetery following the Mass.
