Philip Yourgulez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 24, 2025.
January 2, 1961 to September 18, 2025. Born to George Pons Yourgulez & Theresa Gladys (Sandoval) Yourgulez in Tucson, Arizona. Died in Datil, New Mexico. Preceded in death by his brother George Yourgulez in 2022, his parents including his mother Theresa just this past April 2025 & his beloved dogs. Survived his sister Janet (Buddy) Pucciarelli, nephews Owyn (Laura) Pucciarelli, Isaiah Yourgulez & Tyrus (Jennifer) Yourgulez, niece Chantel (David) Ramus, great-nephew David Ramus Jr., a plethora of younger great-nephews & nieces, and many cousins, and long time friend David Sarricks. Philip was curious from childhood with a penchant for learning everything; he had an encyclopedic memory and could talk hours on any topic. Philip was also quite adventurous joining the Navy out of high-school spending years on the famous air craft carrier Nimitz traveling the world. He was aboard the Nimitz during Operation Eagle Claw in 1980 in which he experienced loss. He was cultured, active in politics, a life-long member of the Libertarian party. Philip was an artist with a talent for drawing; he was also quite the talented chef (he made the best pies) & he could grow anything with his massive green thumb. He was a lifelong lover of animals & classic music, an avid bread maker and the family philosopher. He loved the outdoors, spending over a decade living and working in the mountain community of Running Springs, California, working many jobs as a jack of all trades. Philip made his life's dream come true in retirement moving to the remote mountains of Datil, New Mexico where he built his own self-sustaining farm over the last several years. His loss has left a hole in our hearts. He is surely hiking through the majestic mountains in Heaven, debating the other great minds of the past who he now dwells with eternally.

RIP patriot. I met Phillip over 25 years ago and have always had a lot of respect for him. Such a kind hearted and smart guy. Clothes off his back kind of guy. My family loved him and were always so excited to see him and hang out with him. You are missed

I remember when you came home to visit when you were in the Navy and we were all waiting for you at the house in Covina and they told me to go open the door and you were there in your uniform and you had a stuffed Garfield for me I still have it that was my first time meeting you since you were on the Nimitz when I was born I was so small but I remember it vividly and the rest is a tale told in time Xo

Hi This is Lisa Cooper. Phillip is my cousin. Marie and I went skating with Phillip when we were a lot younger. I went to California in the summertimes. He and Georgie and myself went to see the movie JAWS. Afterwards that night wend swimming at there house. I dove in the pool, one of them turned off the lights and the other grabbed me. I don´t know how I got out of the pool. But I flew. We laughed till we cried. I wish time wasn´t so cruel. Keep families apart. I Love my family Janet if you read this call me. 775-385-4086 texts might be better.
