Phyllis Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 22, 2023.
Phyllis Carol Anderson, 88, of Queen Creek, AZ, passed away on April 21, 2023 at home. She was born on July 12, 1934, in Milwaukee, WI, to Phillip Jr. and Caroline Haas. Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Youngvee (Andy) Anderson, her parents, and her sister, Beverly Matyasz.

Phyllis worked for Milwaukee Public Schools for many years when her children were younger so she could be home with them on holidays and summers. Later, she worked as an assistant in the counseling department at Milwaukee Area Technician College. Together with her husband, Andy, they started and grew Anderson Insurance Agency, which is still thriving today.

Phyllis loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her second love was traveling, and she particularly enjoyed cruising. She also loved Las Vegas, where she and Andy started going in the 1960s and continued until just a few years ago.

Phyllis was a fan of Jeopardy and was quite good at it. She had a great sense of humor and quick wit. Phyllis was an avid reader and loved crossword books and doing puzzles. She volunteered generously for Make a Wish, Phoenix Children's Hospital, and Hospice of the Valley. When she first moved to Tucson, she was in a hiking club. She enjoyed going to cooking demonstrations and playing Mexican Train and Five Crowns with family and friends.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Charles (Chris) Anderson, Sandra (Sanford) Miller, and Steven Anderson (Kim); 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Family was everthing to her.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Phyllis on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Encanterra Country Club, 1035 Combs Road, Queen Creek, AZ 85140, from 12-3 pm. All family and friends invited to attend. Please wear bright colors, she loved yellow.

Contributions in Phyllis's memory can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014, or any animal rescue of your choice.

Rick and I just loved Phyllis! She was such a bright light and kind heart! She was such FUN! Her love for her family was so apparent in all that she did! She added such a blessing to Sandy and Sandy's lives and adored her grandchildren! We recall many lovely dinners with her and the family, and a very fun birthday evening in Le Claire Iowa! We will miss her and we are praying for all to have peace and know we will ALL see Phyllis again! Love Mary Wells

Phyllis was such a a good friend. The last time we went out a gentleman called us twins. I thought that was quite a compliment. Will remember the good times. My heart goes out to you, her family. She will be missed but you will have so many memories to cherish. Am sending hugs and love . Nel
